    Avatar Studios

Nickelodeon revealed the arrival of Avatar Studios, an entire division dedicated to creating animated series and movies based on Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Oh, and the original creators are along for the ride.

Avatar creators and executive producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are going to lead Avatar Studios. The content their team creates will arrive on Paramount+ (previously CBS All Access), Nickelodeon’s various platforms, third-party streaming platforms, and in theaters.
“Creator-driven stories and characters have long been the hallmarks of Nickelodeon, and Avatar Studios is a way to give Mike and Bryan the resources and runway to open up their imaginations even more and dive deeper into the action and mythology of Avatar as we simultaneously expand upon that world and the world of content available on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon,” said Brian Robbins, President of ViacomCBS Kids & Family.
The creators were similarly enthusiastic. “It’s hard to believe it’s been 19 years since we created Avatar: The Last Airbender. But even after all that time, there are still many stories and time periods in Aang’s world that we are eager to bring to life,” said Konietzko and DiMartino. “We are fortunate to have an ever-growing community of passionate fans that enjoys exploring the Avatarverse as much as we do. And with this new Avatar Studios venture we have an unparalleled opportunity to develop our franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale, in myriad exciting ways and mediums.”

Hell yes. Glad Netflix fucked up so Bryan, Michael and Nickelodeon could make this happen. I wonder if they'll finally animate the comics after TLA or do new stories.

I'd imagine new stories? Unless the comics are sooo fucking good fans won't shut up about it. It's kinda baffling Viacom/Nick has let this IP go dormant for so long. Excited to see more Avatar stuff.

If they want to keep telling stories using Aang, it's hard to do so without animating the comics. The one that immediately comes to mind is Zuko and Azula's mom. Her fate has been addressed in the comics, but if you didn't read them, that was one of the big questions at the end of the show, so it'd be weird to go from that question to having an off-screen resolution.

I guess they could jump ahead like ten years or something, then it'd be less relevant.

Allegedly the first film was going to be about Kyoshi but I guess something changed. Korra was reported to be the focus of a 3rd animated film.

Though Janet Varney's video is p much Korra holding the Rise of Kyoshi book talking about the Aang gang announcement.

Dunno how reliable a source this is, but:

Avatar Studios is working on the next Avatar after Aang and Korra. An original animated streaming series set in the future after The Legend of Korra, following the next earth Avatar in the cycle, is coming to Paramount+ in 2025.

First: the big picture. Starting in 2025, Avatar Studios will release an animated movie to theaters AND an animated show on Paramount+ every year.

The Zuko movie still exists and is separate from the adult Gaang movie.

The Kyoshi movie still exists and is now undated.

It's allegedly sourced well with anonymous individuals in Avatar Studios. But take with a grain of salt because who knows how much the streaming landscape can change in the next 2 years that the budget gets yoinked before any sort of official Paramount announcement of a series.

    It's been a very interesting 48 hours.

    Spoiler: show
    ALL OF THIS IS RUMORS:
Allegedly the girl on the right is Pavi, the new Earth avatar succeeding Korra in Avatar Studio's upcoming new animated show. She is about 10, an amputee, a twin, and has a large feline companion named Geet. Unknown who the lady on the left is (but her color pallet is rather Air Nomady, no?)

An amount of storyboarding has been leaked, and Reddit has put a kibosh on further posting before the studio makes official announcements. I'm not going to post those here.

Plot rumors to take with a mountain of salt:
It apparently takes place in a more distant, dystopian future. Characters are seen hoverboarding, for example, but that may be via bending and not advancing technology. The world is in its state resulting from a cataclysm Korra was forced to stop. She effectively had to reshape the world's topography to do this, which resulted in the 4 nations no longer existing, being replaced by 7 lesser "havens". When we meet Pavi, she is homeless, in the derelict slums of a haven; her twin was adopted by the White Lotus and trained in combat, leading an affluent life, setting up a prince/pauper complex. Due to Korra's severing of the bonds with all past Avatars, Pavi can only converse with Korra. When it's discovered her twin does not have Avatar powers, a search for Pavi ensues; they find her, and the twins' disparate worlds collide as they begin their training together.

Not only did Korra ruin the Avatar series, but she also ruined her own canonical world. She really was the worst Avatar...

Second season aside, Legend of Korra was a fine show. Even the second season is nearly salvaged by the Wan episodes.

But yes she really did fuck up everything in-world.

Let's not put any blame on the villains here no it was Korra's fault. Smdh this is character assassination.

Ugh, like its kinda cool that we have different technological eras in this fantasy world, but I really wish we had more stories in between these giant leaps. Idk, it kinda feels like in the long term, Avatar is going to be defined by these giant leaps of technology rather than fantasy martial arts/spirituality in the original series.

Assuming the leaks are true but i'm not sure if they're credible.

I'll never forgive them for somehow finding a way to kill Aang again.

It was her decision to open the poles and combine the spirit and physical worlds at the end of season 2. That kinda set the stage for all of season 3 and 4.

Not a bad character, but she made some monumentally consequential decisions.

Turns out the December rumors were almost entirely true.
Avatar Studios announced the successor series to Korra, which will be called "Avatar: Seven Havens".

Nickelodeon has ordered 26 eps across 2 seasons (books). No release window, but presumably after the Jan 2026 ATLA film.

Same animation style. Rumors of the Avatar being a young earth bender, disabled, twin, etc., were all accurate. Leaked images were likely all real. Premise is true: cataclysm occurred causing the world to be divided into these 7 Havens. The people hate the new Avatar for the current awful state of things. Stay tuned for more.

First Look. "Avatar: Seven Havens" will be 26 half-hour episodes over 2 seasons.

They changed her prosthesis. Maybe it gets upgraded later?
