Got written up cause I made the kids walk up and down the stairs a dozen times as punishment for not being able to walk in a line or down the stairs without tripping on each other. Boss made it seem more severe a problem, but they also had to go to the school board to fire a pedophile that was taking pictures of the students so compared to that idk...

And tbh they were all playing tag in recess immediately after so I know they're okay. They also walked in line properly today, and no one almost stepped on a foot and went tumbling down the stairs. Still though, shit sucks. Gonna make these kids better people at my own detriment

It's okay, they're doing the equivalent school wide when we get back from thanksgiving break. I'm sure that'll definitely work and fix the running down the stairs, flipping off the teachers, threatening to stab each other in the neck, etc.

Having to do this kind of math to get into a good college is bs. If your major has NOTHING to do with advanced math the requirements should be waved.

It's not a perfect filter, but with the amount of kids that colleges need to filter, using standardized testing is a necessary evil.

That includes evaluating a student's standardized testing scores for math even if they are going into a humanities major vs. STEM major. At the level of math the SAT requires, it is really just a test of the raw ability to study and learn certain concepts... which is just part of being a good student. I would feel differently if the SAT was requiring calculus, but it's just Algebra II.

Harvard is going back to test mandatory precisely because the quality of students is dropping since going test optional. That's not just in Math, that's across all disciplines.

Yes a lot of what these tests cover is irrelevant and the students won't need it, but that is true of a lot of core curriculum in general. Also keep in mind that most schools will require them to take Math GEs anyway to graduate. The only top 100 schools in the country without Math GEs are Brown and Amherst.

For reference, my SAT was a 2270, back when it was out of 2400. 790 writing, 780 reading/verbal, 700 math.

In the last few years they've dropped the ASVAB (military standardized test) requirement for our rate and it's been very very obvious which students wouldn't have made the cut. Basically none of the test is applicable to the Electronics Technician rate directly, but the general aptitude that the test is covering can be applied to the basic learning comprehension of the students. Shit we've got two students right who started school a month ago and are already 2 weeks behind schedule

fun story

sophomore year high school football i had never really worked out in a gym before. i had like hand weights and stuff at home but had never done an actual bench rep before

the first attempt i did the same thing in that video at 145 only because i was not used to doing it. once the spotter let go the bar basically immediately crashed down into my chest

next attempt I did actual reps (don’t remember how many) but everyone still thought it was very funny
