I just finished Rogue Legacy 2, I don't like it as much as the first game. What I'm really fucking sick and tired of is metroidvanias just leaning into being overly complex platformers that require you to do repeat and reset movement mechanics so you can repeat them again. Mario has already perfected platforming. Please just fucking give me a proper metroidvania. Quite honestly, it's why I'm not going to bother with Silksong.

The setting and exploration of Hollow Knight is incredible! But if I have to repeat a room/zone for the umpteenth time because it’s filled with annoying ass mobs and reset spikes, I’m calling it a day. Let alone the fact there’s no real fast travel.

SOTN at least had the library card and that shit was released in 1997(?). Which is clearly what they assume you have enough time for in 2026.

I enjoyed the first hollow knight a lot but just got sick of Silksong a few hours in. The game just seemed designed to annoy you as much as possible with constant run backs and needlessly obtuse and overly long platforming segments.

Been blowing through a bunch of other Metroidvanias I've either had sitting around or got during the winter steam sale. Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (short but fire, if a very blatant SOTN rip off), Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown, Blasphemous, and currently working through Tevi.

Though the last one got diverted by Sea of Stars
