I don't like the name of this thread: giraffes

I've been teaching space in class, and occasionally when I refer to Earth I call it the 3rd rock from the Sun. This is the only place I say that, verbally, and I have never written that phrase down on paper or a computer. I've been doing this for almost 2 weeks.

Now I'm getting YouTube shorts on 3rd Rock from the Sun for no reason at all. The actors aren't the same for other things I watch, I've never looked up anything on the show, I am so far removed from the show that I have no clue why else the algorithm would feed clips from this show that came out when I was elementary school other than I said the title out loud for a couple of weeks.

I'm forever convinced they're listening to us on the phones and laptops for key phrases or repetition to better serve us slop. This is not the first time it's happened, and I know it's happened to y'all too. I'll never be convinced otherwise

this is fact and easy to test. go to a bar with your phone in your pocket and have a convo with a stranger about camping, ull get ads and recs for that

I've been watching a slew of 80s sci-fi and fantasy movies as background noise while I sort my comic collection and they're all varying degrees of bad but this one, The Barbarians, at least seems to be self-aware and has had some genuinely funny moments.

The producers of this movie definitely saw Conan the Barbarian though and said "well if people want one super jacked Barbarian, they'll pay through the nose for TWO super jacked Barbarians!"
