This forum is so outdated that it can't even handle emojis from cellphones. Those have been popular well over a decade now.
Xno left an AI chat bot in control of his account so he could leave and start a new online family.

I think it would be bad if Chinese companies had a dominant advantage in AI

Tiktok was less about indoctrination and more about the security risk of the app. It WAS doing weird shit and exfiltrating data it shouldn't have access to.
While there's obvious "mistakes" in this video (door opens by itself, tables behind the cashier counter) - there's also stuff more realistic than what you'd see on TV - namely seeing a fist actually make contact with the face of a star actor.

Funny. I was thinking of the Ozymandias poem earlier today because of current events, and archi coincidentally posts that.
It makes things more realistic than TV except for the whole part where it doesn't.
No because they are sacrificing the fluidity and realistic motion (not to mention the actor's features and interactions with their environment) to do one thing which you can already achieve with current non-AI movie making techniques.
AI is just not gonna fill the awe of watching real people do some of the crazy shit we see. It's one of the reasons Fury Road is so fucking amazing. Practical effects and stunts. Those Pole Cats? Real people doing that crazy shit.
At best, it's just prettier CGI.
Just look at LOTR vs Hobbit trilogy
