Just know that 1 is a lot different than 3, 4, and 5. Still fun, but it's a bit stiffer and not as good compared to those 3. It supposedly started out as the next RE game (RE4 I think?) and then Capcom realized it's too different and turned it into it's own thing. It has a lot of RE similarities because of that. 3 is when it really becomes the DMC we know today and is a fine starting point if you're not feeling 1.

There are nerds that are Nazis that love Star Wars/Trek and other man vs tyranny. Their favorite characters are the protagonist in those stories yet in real life they root for and support the oppressor. Media literacy is severely lacking in America. Plus the show has sex scenes and that’s truly all they need to be hooked.

I love development stories like these. Reminds me of how Xenogears was supposed to be a Final Fantasy but Squaresoft decided it started getting too dark for their flagship title so it became its own IP.
