I turned 18 in 2001. Got to live my whole childhood before the world changed, so I'm lucky in that regard

Idk man, my memories never match what I'm looking at when I replay old video games. They look so much worse, for many reasons, but nothing beats nostalgia. It's the reason I haven't made a lot of effort to visit my childhood neighborhood. I know I'm going to be immensely disappointed after 25 years

Most people tend to stop discovering new media on their own by the time they reach their 30s and circle back to favorite music, shows, games from their youth. By your 30s, most people are only experiencing new media from osmosis thru their partner or children.
As someone who spent the weekend listening to Madonna (granted the new album) and rewatching SG-1, I feel targeted.
Look man there’s a reason why nostalgia is a big seller in every genre, Friends and Seinfeld are some of the most streamed shows on Netflix, Nintendo releases the same game every decade or so, and a lot of bands go on multiple “Farewell tours”
I do make a pretty concentrated effort to find new music at least a couple times a year.
South Arcade/Violent Vira/Miso Extra/Dawn of Oroborous/Tokimonsta/Hanabie are all new to me within the last year-ish, even though some of them like Tokimonsta have been around for 15+ years
Being able to buy a house for a steal in 2011 after GenXers got nuked by the financial crisis, we really did have it all

I don't care to discover new genres but I am finding new bands in the genres I like all the time.
I listen to the new music Playlist on Spotify every Friday, I actively refuse to get trapped in the past musically. People are still making fantastic stuff every day.

Yeah Spotify has been amazing for discovering new bands
Apparently Rogue Trader is available on Switch 2 but was an absolute disaster on launch. It's getting a patch today and they've also made all current and future DLC free for that version.
The era before helicopter parenting became prominent was wonderful. Later Gen Z don't understand how free it was to just disappear and get home before dark. They think it's crazy kids were able to fuck off without parents watching over them.
"It's 10:00 PM. Do you know where your children are?"
I feel like 9 to 10 PM was usually my cutoff to be home, so I was probably gonna get my ass grounded for a week if I missed that
