i'd reckon mostly only people who have never lost someone they loved with all their heart say that. can definitely see how your own pet would hit harder than most people's deaths tho.

I think in my case this is very much right and wrong at the same time. I've dealt with a lot of death starting at a very young. And I'm not taking about weird uncle Joe. Most of my closest friends and family are all gone at this point.

Having a pet of my own die has been a far more rare event, so it still has a very different feel for me. Most of our pets have really long lives (i.e. our African Gray will most likely outlive me), so it's just not a common occurrence.

There was a research stating that loss of a spouse is the biggest stressor in ones life, followed by divorce, imprisonment and loss of a loved one.

One of my cats HATES anyone that isn't me or my wife. We were having a water heater installed yesterday, so there were two guys going in and out for a few hours. At some point, I lost the cat in question and couldn't find her. I went all over the house and looked high and low and couldn't find her. Shake the treats box and good food cans all over the house, no sound, nothing. I was scared she got how at some point when they were opening the doors. I knew they were closing them right away, and i don't see someone seeing a cat run out of the house and not telling the homeowner, but i couldn't find her and feared the worse.

This cat has kidney issues, and because of that she has had a lot of trouble keeping weight on, so she has little to no body fat. The temp dropped to 20~ that day. For over 7 hours, i looked for her. Scared that I allowed this girl to get outside and die, hungry and freezing to death.

The wife finally gets home, we do a rescan of the house and neighborhood AGAIN, no sign of her. We gave up and started posting to lost cat sights and the local FB/etc groups when this fucking cunt of a cat does a little meow by her food bowl.

Fuck this fucking cat and the hell she put me through.

I don't know how many times I'd come home and not be able to find Jager. I'll shake the treat bag, click the laser pointer, call his name, and nothing. Then 15 minutes later he will either saunter out, or I'll catch a glimpse of his eyes in the closet as he decided he just wanted to den and not acknowledge our presence.

Daughter (Doesn't believe in Santa) Xmas list: Rock Band
Son (Does believe in Santa) Xmas list: 3DS

WHAT DECADE ARE THESE CHILDREN FROM.

May succeed with son. No idea what to do with Daughter's. I know she doesn't believe but I'd still like to get her something close to what she wants, but no way am I spending $300 on a ~10 year old game.

If you lived closer I'd give you my PS3 copy, though I have no clue if the instrument's work since the storage closet in our garage got flooded

Since Rock Band is dead, your best bet is Rocksmith, though you'd have to get her an actual guitar (not an expensive one mind you, just a learner that's compatible). Otoh, can actually learn guitar rater than playing a controller (Rocksmith is not a substitute for an actual teacher.)
Unless she wants it for singing, in which case there are other games, though I'm not familiar with them.
If she wants Rock Band for the drums though, idk, you may be screwed there.

My husband managed to snag a guitar hero (game + guitar ps3 version) from a local shop, but it’s missing the dongle, so will order off there.

Son we are thinking of having Santa write instructions to daddy for an emulator (he has his own pc). Reason being he’s also asked in the past for super Mario RPG, which is about $100 and we wouldn’t know if it works properly. My husband also found my SP, and we’ll get a few games on that. Note: we have a switch, but he sees reviews of old Nintendo games a lot and wants to play them.

Thank you everyone for the advice, and ty Melena for the offer. We have an Occulus already, syn. My daughter is obsessed with wanting to do stuff with the whole family and I suspect she must have found a 4-person rock band video. My friend works in the regional office at goodwill so we told her to snag a rock band if it ever comes her way and we’d pay for it. We figure in the meantime she can do guitar hero for practice and maybe we’ll get lucky with a second guitar so at least we can duo.

As an aside, when I looked this shit up awhile ago, these games never stopped being insanely profitable, but sounds like the companies didn’t want to deal with the hardware manufacturers for the instruments anymore. One can hope some company will decide it’s worth it and make a new one someday.

Oh Melena if you are legit up for offering your set I would pay for shipping + extra for your time. I would ask, if possible, you test it though before I dump money on it. However, full disclosure those complete sets can sell for $400 and more, and you might benefit from eBaying it. I’m definitely not willing to pay that much for an old game that she may not even end up liking. We’re looking to try and spend no more than $100. I don’t want to put you out, so no stress if that’s not worth it for you.

Ksandra, while you'll have to watch for bootlegs, you can get an snes mini for about 150ish on ebay, which comes with super Mario rpg and a bunch of other games.

It's also easily hackable to dump the entire SNES library on it

I am supposed to be meeting my girlfriend's friend group for a dinner party tonight. I've been having an upset stomach the last few days, however. Last night it was pretty bad, and the pain was located around the appendix region.

Ended up going to the ER today to get a CT scan. The initial thought was tell-tale sign of appendicitis, but the results showed I had an infarction which was causing the pain. My GF's friends, having heard I was in the hospital, ask that I not come out for dinner. She was very upset and decided not to join them either.

She hasn't seen her friends together in a long time and I feel like shit for putting her in this situation.

Got a DUI last night on the bicycle. I even crashed at the birthday party and slept for 4 hrs before I left. Wasn't pulled over because I was swerving or biking reckless or anything like that. Another cyclist got hit and killed on my route home and I happened to get stopped at the scene of that accident. Cop said the road was closed and I asked which road I should take instead. He smelled alcohol on my breath and that was it. Also got charged with refusing to obey an officer (they're insisting that I ignored them when they said the road was closed and tried to continue anyway, which didn't happen)

That sucks. I'd recommend getting a cheap gopro style cam (some decent ones for like $50 on amazon) to bike with in case you ever have any more police interactions. They're always gonna tack on some bullshit charges.

Edit: Not to mention they had no authority over you and you had zero obligation to "obey," unless you were already detained at that point.

Yeah I'm going to have to after this and all the times I've been hit.

I plan on fighting the charges. In FL, it's not a crime to refuse field sobriety and breathalizer, but if you do they auto suspend your license for a year (which is fine since I don't drive anyways) so the most they have is "He smelled like alcohol"

Good man. Never ever ever submit to a field sobriety test. It's too subjective and easy to "fail," completely sober.
