Man that is a bummer. I hate group interviews. There are some shitty interviewing practices going on these days. I have seen some people come up against this new "video tape yourself responding to some predetermined questions and send the video to us" type deals. That sounds equally horrible. The last interview process I did was phone screen with HR > interview with hiring manager > follow up with HR > interview with full team > offer. It took a while but it wasn't too bad because it allowed for that personal interaction which is valuable for assessing personality on both sides.

Work fail but mildly affects me and has to deal with hiring. Was supposed to get 2 new employees, 1 contract and 1 direct hire. Contract guy starts but direct hire kept getting her start date pushed back because of a lengthy background check.

Apparently, based on a coworker who started in Feb, my BILLION DOLLAR FORTUNE 500 EMPLOYER really sucks at doing background checks. Those with common names get stuck in background check purgatory and HR ghosts people that the hiring manager eventually has to push HR to figure out its shit.

So we're guessing this worker named Maria <insert very common Latino name> got flagged false positive for a felony on her background check despite holding a science job prior to expressing her intent for the position. I have to wonder if she put her 2 weeks notice at her old job then got completely fucked by my megacorp employer's HR department.

I was trying to make a training schedule for both at the same time but now I have to waste double the amount of time training them separately whenever the next hiring pool goes through and then the lengthy background check again.

Only saving grace really is the calendar; You usually average 8 plasma donations a month can go twice a week; calendar just has to line up for how many you get a month.

Aside from february, you're guaranteed at least 8, but if your days line up sometimes you can get 9, and sometimes 10 (if your plamsa day is the 1st of the month and you go twice a week, you can get one in on the 31st as well)

I've got two 10 donation and a 9 donation month with this month and next respectively, and there's a bonus this month if you do at least 8 of an extra 100; between all that, if I spend no money for the rest of the year, I'm good for december/jan, which gives me a bit of leeway on "i'm fucked if I dno't get a job the end of the month) to february 1st is now my new danger zone.

I've got about 850 left on my ebt and considering the only thing I'm eating right now are chicken quarters (7.99 for 10 lbs and they last about a week and a half) and oatmeal/grits (the big tubs are about 4 bucks and last about 2 weeks each); I'll be good on the food front for a while

How's your typing skills? Typing speed and accuracy matters unfortunately, so you'll need to take a test online for it.

I mean, I played XI, so I can type fairly well. I can def do 60+ with accuracy. I can get up to 90+ but that'll find me hitting the backspace button every now and then; issue there (and remote work in general) is that I have WOW internet. They may only be 20-30 mins long, but I at least get 2-3 outages a week. I had Frontier (Verizon) fios at my last place, which is only 2 miles away, but for w/e reason they don't service where I live now.

Edit: also, I don't have phone service. I'm google voice + wifi only so if I did have an outage, I couldn't even call them and say "hey my internet went out" to call anyone if my internet is out, closest place with free wifi would be Walmart which is about 15-20 mins each way on the bike to be able to communicate with anyone

None that are worth a fuck. Spectrum is just as bad as wow. And really isn't down to cost. I was actually paying less for fiber internet at my old place than I am now for cable internet by $20/month. Frontier is the only reliable ISP in this city and they just haven't found their way over to my neighborhood yet

One of my deputies walks up to me around halfway through his shift and announces he has Covid and since we used to have mandatory testing , hands me a test to have sent out. Except we stopped doing the testing oniste like 3 weeks ago and you know..everyone got an email.

He is clueless what to do , so we call the Sergeant office, they are clueless too. He ends up going home while I have to sanitize his radio and body camera separately from the other gear now.
Come home and feel like shit but I don't keep tests around really so I'll see how it goes.

It's Thanksgiving week where we are already short staffed in every area and we are having a base wide outbreak of flu and covid and had a potluck today so , Goodluck everyone else. I didn't partake for once lol.

Welp. You guys are going to enjoy this thread as it just puts my own dumbassery on display. But here we go:

I’ve always wanted a camper. Hubby always said no. After he got the Rivian, though, I caught him looking up all kinds of trailers to pull. I was all, “YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME, I HAVE NO RESISTANCE.” He had basically learned Airstreams and pop ups are the way to go. Went to Camping World and they had a pop up that fit all my needs: sleeps 8 (friends camp with us a lot), fits in the garage, and lots of storage. My mom, God love her, also kept telling us manual pop ups (Ie. raise with a crank) were the way to go, and that electrical ones break all the time. This one is a crank. Due to the age we bought it as is (peak dumbassery), but did several tours and mechanic went over all of it with us.

Got it for $6k after tax/registration. Opened it up last week to load it up for a camping trip on Black Friday-to-Sunday. Closed it, and when it was 6inches away it shut real fast. Now it won’t open.

Took it to Camping World. Got a call today. Whole pulley system is broken and they can’t repair it. It is “repairable”, but I can’t find any rv place that will do it.

As to doing it ourselves in “theory” we could, but would need severa strong people to live it up manually and prop it up with 2x4s to repair. Needless to say camping trip cancelled as we figure this out. Ducking sucks. Like I knew things would need to be repaired since it’s a used trailer. But it couldn’t have been the sink or some shit so we could still use it?


Double negative, part of this was also so we could take the dog down to my husband’s parents who won’t allow pets. We got a campsite that’s only about a mile from their house. Plan was to leave the dog in the backyard at their house then camp with him overnight. Basically, prob won’t get to visit family on thanksgiving due to this.
