Cause he's demanding zero offset and the Jets require offset in every contract and don't want a new precedent set. From what I read, 30 of the 32 teams put an offset of some sort in all their rookie contracts, so this isn't something new.

Maybe they should try something else, since what they have been doing doesn't work. After the Darnold disaster, they should be doing whatever in hell they can to have this guy succeed. Getting him to camp ASAP is vital.
