i doubt that, tackles are like quarterbacks. there's only about a dozen of them in the league that are any good. scarcity of the position keeps their value high.

all the teams with money are the teams that need tackles and quarterbacks

The point is a whole lot of good ~ very good ones are suddenly available, which has like never happened. Along with less money to spend, most end up taking less or 1 year prove-it deals (Eric Fisher coming off a recent ACL for example).

Random note: Vegas knew about the Wentz trade a full 2 days before it happened. Their line moved from -300 to -1400 48 hours before it was announced.

I still doubt the Wilson trade will happen. I don't see Pete Carroll coaching his final years in a full rebuild.

if i'm the jags and jets right now i'm spending all my money on every free market oline and wr i can get my hands on to ensure my new cheap quarterback doesn't look like sam darnold. if at least two teams are vying for the same player that drives the price of the player up

star players at key positions are still going to be expensive. bum players are still going to be cheap. it's the guys in the middle that the market is going to be down on

it makes no sense to me either, for both parties. i see absolutely no reason the hawks would want to get rid of russ in the first place and i see absolutely no reason russ would want to go to a worse team

No clue, but it is one of the short list destinations his agent told the Seahawks he would be willing to be traded to. I imagine because Chicago is the 4th largest market in the US and his wife has some say in branding.

This is reasonable. I still don't think they could possibly get enough for in return, unless it included a top 2 draft pick and that QB selection was successful. Lot of dice to roll.

Edit: I also think the Seahawks are pretenders. Bad O line. Running game no one is afraid of. Really bad defense in a lot of areas.

i agree with you but the equation is different for the two of them. a lot of watson's value comes from the fact that he's 25 years old and he's still capable of becoming better. that's valuable for teams in a rebuild and also teams that want to win now

russ is at his peak atm. his value is solely to teams that want to win right now... considering pete is like 70 he can only think about winning now. the future doesn't exist with him in it lol

if carroll retired then maybe you can think about trading russ away, blowing everything up, and that making some sense. but doing it now... that's fucking nuts to me with where that organization is

I just flat out think Watson is better than Wilson, right at this moment. I'm taking him whether I need to win today, tomorrow, or in 7 year.

I just find it absolutely stupid to go to Chicago so I also agree it would have to be because either his wife or business opportunities like branding or non-football related or because he likes the children's hospital there or something.

the only reason russ would want to go to chicago is because of Nagy and their “ideal” perceived offense. they should be more pass-happy but have had shit qbs running the show. think of every mitch rollout, but with wilson

they also still have a good defense and would be much better with even average qb play. i think most passing metrics had the bears qbs (foles/Mitch) pretty close to the eagles last year

even with shit qb play they’ve made the playoffs i think three times in the past four years? it isn’t that hard to imagine the bears going on a deep playoff run just by adding a good qb

edit: two of the last three years, .500 or better each year
