I mean, the Deplorables suddenly hating you shouldn't be considered a bad thing. All the results otherwise say is they're in greater number there. A presidential run is more a matter of how many republicans remain who haven't gone off the deep end, which probably isn't enough to win a nomination if put against Trump or DeSantis. So, yeah, third party spoiler is the ideal outcome.

There's one scenario wherein a Liz Cheney run means anything. She skips the GOP primary and runs as a 3rd party "traditional conservative values" candidate, and is able to siphon off 1-2% of voters in battleground states so that Trump has no chance of winning the Electoral College. That also only works if Trump is the candidate, she could never steal votes from DeSantis (whom Trump-hating neocons will happily vote for).

So only if Trump is the nominee, and only if the goal of her candidacy is to stop him from winning.
