She's still absolutely fucking insufferable too. My wife had surgery a little over a week ago to clean up some endometriosis and check fallopian tube patency.

Her mom was there and after surgery, her mom and I went to a consult room to speak with the surgeon about how it went.

Surgeon states she would probably classify it as stage 1 level of endometriosis, nothing too major but could still cause a lot of pain.

My fucking mother-in-law looks at the doctor and states "well, if it's stage 1 I'm glad we caught it early, I'm sure it was the COVID vaccine that caused it".

I wanted to run my head through a wall. The doctor was a total pro. She explained to my MIL that that's not how staging works and she's probably had that since birth.

2 hours before this conversation, we were in prep-recovery and my MIL asked what happened to my wife's finger because she thought the pulse ox was a bandage....that's the person trying to hand out medical advice.

We don't have a sectional. We have a sofa that's parallel to the wall. It does slightly curve on the end, but it's more of a larger cushion area than a sectional/chaise. It works for the space. Here's a better pic...it's from when we just moved in, so the rooms are empty.

Some medical schools allow remote learning, which assertive students who want to learn at their own pace take full advantage of. As such they often sacrifice mastering the more practical parts, like working with others or patient interactions (of which the skills exams are supposed to reinforce but they ignore this too because it 'doesn't count'), in order to maximize test scores or domains that will help them get into the program of their dreams.

When I'm teaching students I can always tell which ones are going to struggle in clinical years or residency because they're very smart and bright but carry an arrogance that screams "I only need to know my shit" thus the arrogant surgeon or doctor is born.

Even if I know my patient is a nurse or doctor, I always explain everything like they're 5. Not all medical staff are familiar with every body system or every specialty. If I read a PET scan impression that confirmed cancer, I wouldn't know a damn thing about what it means, if it treatable, how aggressive it is. Nothing. If I was admitted for something such as that, I'd need the staff to explain it to me like they would anyone else.

There's MDs that have been so entrenched in their specialty that they don't know anything else. Old Ortho bros are notorious for this. We would page for diabetes orders on a post-op knee and they'd be like "yeah, I have no idea, consult hospitalist...".
