It is amusing to see it spun as demanding perfection. This is why the Democrats never learn, and will keep losing. Tripping over their own propaganda about being the bulwark holding back some evil, and they aren't.

Pretending voting for the Democrats is essentially saving the country and people in it by protecting any number of arbitrary topics is just comical. Voting is an apolitical demonstration Americans engage in as if it were some brave and noble "bare minimum".

For the record I vote, but I don't vote every time, and I look at the ballot to decide if I will abstain or not. Even then if I don't vote Democrat it is apparently the same as not voting though which is also comical.

Just for the record, Democrats are not defenders of minorities, and not champions of the poor or working class or women or anything else of that genre. Everyone can keep telling themselves they are, but it is either untrue, half-hearted rhetoric with little substance or track record, or hypocritical virtue signaling and so on. The Democrats really don't give a shit about the LGBTQ+ members of society unless it costs them little to nothing and gains them power. So on and so forth. We have a broken democracy because of the utter obsession with the lesser of two evils.
The discussion needs to be on taking over the Democratic party and forcing it to be something of substance and value to its voters, and not just enabling a trash party with carte blanche sentiments. Otherwise, you aren't any better for casting that ballot than the Republican that apparently wants to harm everyone.

Please shut up. Wild that Dems actually voted to codify same sex marriage but all Republicans voted it down. Democrats pushed to end conversion therapy and make it illegal in almost all Democrat led states. Also they give trans individuals way more respect and rights than Red states. You have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights and our struggle.

To be fair, Obama was pro-gay marriage as a State Senator before he became against it (pro-civil union, anti-marriage) as a state-wide U.S. Senate candidate, only becoming openly gay marriage again once public opinion swung towards gay marriage being acceptable while President.

He adapted to make himself palatable to his electoral audience; when he moved up to larger and more conservative audiences, he shifted to the right. He is the perfect embodiment of how an electable candidate can only be as liberal as the center allows.
