Puerto Ricans can be stubborn about leaving the island. My grandmother won't leave the island, which means my aunt won't, which means my cousin won't.

Of course, water damage for that long is lethal to the property and likely the occupants too.

Yeah I’m with Day on this one. My maternal grandma is the same way with our home in Dominican Republic. At least four generations were raised in that home so a lot of us are still very much tied to it.

Once I became financially comfortable I hooked that house the fuck up with solar panels, a well system, and replaced the doors/windows. And obviously I’m not a high profile politician.
