Slight aside from this; Reddit seems to have collectively lost their fucking mind this year. The political subreddits - especially r/politics are a sea of hopeless misery and rage. It’s among the most concentrated forms of pure doomscrolling i’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. Many of the posters are flabbergasted that the Dems are most likely going to lose the House, Senate or both in the midterms. These midterm predictions are taken more as a sign that the totalitarian GOP fourth reich is coming rather than you know…historical precedent that the party in power always suffers losses in the following midterm. Did people really think voting out Trump and getting a Democratic congress with the slimmest of majorities was going to fix everything overnight?

I get that we’re all inpatient these days but I’m pretty sure massive, systemic changes do not happen overnight.

Kuro; what compounds the frustration for me even more is you can’t even be positive these crazy ass complaints are even coming from legitimate users. Part of the flaw of these mega social media sites is they are much easier for charlatans, bad faith actors and Russian Bots to target with precision to sow even more chaos. Gaslight is too soft a word for the absurdity of it all.

Part of the reason I’ve been browsing BG more often lately is community. Everyone on here has a name, an avatar and usually a signature. There aren’t thousands upon thousands of registered users typing comments into threads. There is a sense of community on these old school style message boards that is difficult to replicate on Reddit. Not to mention, level headed discussions are more likely to take place rather than an eternal doom spiral or mindless trolling or karma farming.

It's kinda wild that Mayor Pete only ran for president in order to get into Biden's cabinet (and out of Indiana where he had no hope of winning statewide office), he succeeded, and now he's been given more money to allocate and manage via the BIF than any transpo secretary ever.

So the House is going to probably pass the BBB reconciliation bill tonight, and minority leader McCarthy is in the middle of a multi-hour speech on the floor against it right now.
