The House passed CR is stuck in the Senate with a government shutdown looming tomorrow if it doesn't pass.

Movement in the Senate is complicated by absences (3 Dems + 1 Repub) that means it can't pass on a straight majority. Republicans want votes on amendments that would block federal vaccine mandates and the whole Crack Pipe thing Day brought up in spam. Otherwise they won't vote on the CR. Both amendments would pass with the current absences so Dems are holding things up a bit.

MN House Rep Jim Hagedorn (R) has died from kidney cancer at the age of 59. He was mostly recently famous for being a signee on the Texas v. Pennsylvania lawsuit that denied that Biden had won the presidential election.

Well this last phase of House redistricting is getting fucking wild. The very Republican but also very required to comply with state fair districting laws Florida congress is rebelling against DeSantis and his idiotic district maps, even the Republicans.

Then there's Ohio the state embodiment of a Karen so obstinate they KEEP REFUSING TO EVEN PROPOSE REASONABLE MAPS DESPITE COURTS ORDERING THEM TO. DeWine and lawmakers are about to be held in contempt for flatly refusing to DO THEIR JOBS. The Ohio Republican party conference is apparently done with R gov DeWine.

Lol that is so GOP. So his current district looks like it is R+14 and the MN maps are not yet finalized plus I know almost nothing about Minnesota. Would be a pretty cool flip if possible.

Lots of incremental court related House redistricting updates. North Carolina is now finished and overall is moderate improvement for Dems +1. Also with a finished map today is Pennsylvania that wasn't changed very much but some slight Dem gains around the margins. As things stand so far Dems have gained +12 likely districts while Republicans have lost 5 and 7 competitive seats were removed.

Florida is still negotiating a map that doesn't change that much in spite of DeSantis. And Ohio is FINALLY actually trying to put a more fair map together after being threatened by the Ohio supreme court.

And remember the FBI investigation of Texas Dem rep Cueller? Many of his voters appear unphased and still willing to vote for him while progressive candidate Cisneros is making some gains but it's not a clear primary win even despite all of that.

Oklahoma's old as fuck Senator Inhofe is retiring early as of this election cycle. Of course Okalohma is quite Republican so, only real questions is how big of a Republican piece of shit will his replacement be.

Tonight are some of the first elections of the year for Texas primaries. Already there are reports of voters not being allowed to vote under Texas' strict new voter suppression laws. One district to watch is the primary between progressive Cisneros and under Federal investigation Cueller in South Texas.

Also today Ohio Republicans submitted YET ANOTHER redistricting map after being repeatedly warned by the Ohio Supreme Court to make fairly apportioned districts and... they STILL barely tried to balance them out. So it appears contempt of court and jail time it is with court drawn maps. Republicans are really just THIS fucking stubborn to do their job.

Kansas redistrict is in the appeals court and already media is using a heavy hand to tell the eastern parts about how they deserve real representation and the horrible governor is preventing it from happening.

These people live on a different fucking plane.
