The funding for foreign inspectors can fortify the supply chains because fuck ups are easy. Minor FDA findings can fix potential catastrophic manufacturing mistakes (see Abbot shutting down the MI baby formula plant. Offline since February. Earliest it can be revalidated is by July under heavy oversight.)

Europe does the same thing to manufacturing units they inspect in the US to also prevent fuck ups.

Or we don't inspect. Babies die. Imports stop making the supply chain worse. It's investing in prevention. But the big Regulation word scares Rs because it's expensive

Here is the simple version: Republicans want no government or just a shell appearance of government while corporations and billionaires do whatever the fuck they want. Funding government regulation agencies prevents that. Fuck the Republican party, build that government back up to crush these fucking fascist bastards and their monopolies. The GOP couldn't really be further from libertarianism. Actual libertarians haven't had anything close to a foothold in politics since Ron Paul's geriatric ass retired.

These are just autocrats masquerading as capitalists. They have no actual vested interest in policy other than policy that keeps their lobbies happy (read: paying them)

Peter Thiel fancies himself a libertarian, have you not noticed the spam bots pushing libertarian type stupidity in every reply? It's a tool for fascism. They want to be socially liberal posers while actually acting to advance strict ChristoFascism where the elite are above the law (even more so than now).

I've thankfully never read a single message or statement from Peter Thiel in any format, so no.

Richard Spencer and Gavin McInnes both call themselves "liberals" and "left of center." The level of discourse has lowered so much that none of this even holds any meaning anymore. Other than fascists using these labels as a tool to deflect away from their actions and onto tribalism. Which unfortunately I would say they've succeeded resoundingly.

Don't really know where to put this but it's kind of midterms so maybe this will do.

The Michigan Republican candidates for governor have been rocked by a sweeping forged petition signature scandal. In Michigan all Governor candidates have to turn in a certain amount of signatures to appear on the ballot, even the incumbent. Out of about 10 Republican candidates 5 of them were found to have tens of thousands of pretty lazily fraudulent signatures and were today disqualified from running. The guy who had been their top candidate is now out, and the remaining 5 have absolutely no elected political experience. On top of that one of the suspected dudes who was in charge of the petition signatures is a notorious criminal who has been CAUGHT and criminally punished for this exact crime before in Virginia. There he had hired two ex-cons who were not eligible to gather signatures and had his crew pass them around a round-table writing names in different ink colors. There will probably be a criminal investigation. The 5 disqualified candidates can appeal to a court but seems unlikely they would succeed.

A state elections panel on Thursday deadlocked 2-2 on whether five Republican candidates for governor should be barred from the August primary ballot because they each submitted too many fraudulent signatures, and an official said the effect of the vote is to disqualify the candidates.

The two Republican members — Chairman Norman Shinkle and Tony Daunt — wanted to put the candidates on the ballot. The two Democrats — Vice Chair Mary Ellen Gurewitz and Jeannette Bradshaw — did not.

The effect of the deadlock is that none of the five candidates will be on the ballot, said State Elections Director Jonathan Brater.
