The 20+ minutes of trailers is definitely a large chain thing. Went to what was basically a ma and pop theater for Ant-Man and got like 3 trailers.

No beer. No pause for a bathroom or anything. No flexible scheduling. Less than ideal seats. People on their phone. Talking. Annoying trailers and ads. Gouged items. Travel time. What's not to like?!

Saw new GOTG at the draft house and there was maybe 3 trailers. I was ordering food and beer during the trailers anyways.

"Man accused of attempted murder of teenage girl playing common children's game" was too hard to write.

I watch no TV anymore so I honestly enjoy the distraction and preview of what's coming

Honestly without this community and Twitter I wouldn't know about most media coming out. Even a lot of the old podcasts I've listened to have spun down. Getting old sucks

I don't know what policy change at a news desk somewhere has led to us getting all of these quotidian gun violence stories, but I am here for it.

I mean, do you all think people weren't getting shot for knocking on the wrong door or playing hide and seek a little too close to a crazy neighbor three months ago? We are just hearing about them now and I am not sure what changed that made it so.

I'm waiting for the most American thing ever and Louisiana Man to sue the gun maker like "If I shoot something in the head it should die. What kinda pussy nonsense is this that a little girl lived through it?" or something equally as stupid. Sure I'm typing this with 783457843% sarcasm, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'd like to be optimistic and say Uvalde put gun incident awareness in a higher spotlight in contrast to how ineffectual police or "good guys" can be. Which doesn't really help the fact this stuff was probably happening before and just flying under the radar, but maybe with enough public knowledge, the whole mental illness angle relative to ownership and acquisition may finally stick. And I don't just mean depressed or suicidal types, but your self-proclaimed bastions of (toxic) masculinity, fascist right-wingers and all their deplorable baggage, and abusers of all stripes. It's just unfortunate that more will have to die or be maimed to even get that far.

I think most folks just were blissfully ignorant about it, much like Viet Nam.

Fox News raising a generation of cowards shooting children, all while screaming about violent video games influencing our youth.

Every news network was parroting the danger of violent video games in the 90s, it's literally why stuff like the ESRB exists

I mean, they are still doing it now in the not-90s to a higher degree than other networks. Buffalo shooting last year had an anchor blaming video games.

Detectives say Doyle told them that when he went back outside he saw people running away from his property and began shooting at them, unknowingly hitting the girl.
This is where he screwed up. You can't shoot people on your property if they are running away. He should have said, " Hey girl! Come here." And THEN shot her in the face.
