That makes it seem even more like it was done for personal or ideological reasons, and even less like it was some sort of experienced killer or mercenary.

The people upset w/ this dude being are the same people who cheered when bin laden got offed. The difference between the two the one who wasn't a US cicitzen has less victims and did it for political/religious beliefs; the other? the American w/ more victims? did it purely for profit

they exist they're just nothing like Hollywood typically portrays them. almost always muscle for the more violent organizations in organized crime rather than freelancers, which in America typically means urban gangs and everywhere the cartels spread their fingers. handful of Russians and Italians but they've both mellowed out. a few skinheads. usual suspects.

truth is the average contract killer active in the US today is a Mexican in a t-shirt that most of you wouldn't be able to pick out of a Home Depot line.

Yeah, he reacted to the failure to cycle as though he expected it to happen, and knew exactly when to be there as well has having an exit strategy, so it definitely seems like a planned hit, but I wouldn't be surprised if his only real training was in preparation for this specific event. Scratching shit into your brass and using a gun that you know isn't going to cycle properly seem pretty amateurish to me.

Edit: If this guy isn't caught, this will probably not be the last time we see something like this. CEOs of predatory corporations will probably have personal security that rivals the Secret Service before long.

Think we getting confirmation of the motive

Words including “delay” and “deny” appear to have been inscribed on casings collected after Brian Thompson was shot outside a Midtown hotel.

This is something the left should seriously take note of. It’s rare to see such overwhelming agreement between both sides on an issue. In this case, neither side seems to care much about the fact that someone was killed—instead, they’re largely rooting for the perpetrator to get away with it. Given how heinous the crime was, this speaks volumes about the depth of political leverage that could be harnessed here. I’m not referring to debates about guns or murder, but rather the universal hatred for these companies. That sentiment alone could be a powerful platform to run on if utilized effectively.

Essentially, take what Bernie Sanders was aiming for but zero in on these specific companies rather than broad-strokes class warfare.

The best assassins in Hollywood movies are always average-looking white guys, so this tracks 100%.

Dude was stone cold, and knew how to get away with it!

@Yabby: We've known that for years, but as long as the DNC Corporate heads are in charge of installing their own pick without an actual election, you're going to lose anyone who supports Bernie's messaging. At the end of the day, both sides are funded and run by corpos who protect their own interests. Its just that only one side is (somewhat) sane, and the one that is always takes the fucking high road on everything, thinking that we're still in 1992 where a sneeze on camera could disqualify someone from being elected.

Those days are long over. Its long been time to start going for the throat, but no Corpo wants to push out a candidate who's entire messaging is an unremitting hatred for CEOs and corporate abuses.

Honestly though, will a jury even convict this guy?

This is very true, but it also opens the door for a left-wing figure with Trump-like boldness and charisma to step in and seize the opportunity.

If this individual lost a loved one, it’s hard to imagine a jury of 12 people where at least one doesn’t see the act as justified. Insurance companies have wronged so many Americans that it’s rare to find someone who hasn’t had issues with one. Judges, if I’m not mistaken, can override the jury if they disregard the law or fail to consider the evidence, potentially rejecting a verdict not grounded in legality.

The "left" should and I'm sure they will, but it's absolutely no secret that the establishment leaders of both the GOP and the Democratic Party are very much "them" in the class war.

There is just no chance the DNC would allow a candidate to get any real power running on that kind of platform, even if it is truly targeted.

This is why superdelegates exist, to prevent this kind of thing from stealing power from the establishment.

I could argue this was supposed to be Obama, but then he got elected and basically shriveled before the GOP.

Personally, I don't want a left-wing Trump that basically embodies all of his shit traits, only this time utilizing them for causes we agree with. Some may scoff at this just being purity test bullshit, but I just see it more as instead of making the contest about lesser evils, we push someone akin to a lesser or greater good. Nearly half of the country may not be ready for that, but sometimes you actually have to do something before people come around.

Now, I don't see this particular act tilting the scales in any meaningful way on its own, but if it turns into a catalyst for healthcare execs living in fear and needing to contract security squads 24/7 after a few more go down or get injured, maybe then we'll see some inkling of political movement. I just wouldn't anticipate it during Trump's time. 2-4 years can feel like forever, and if we compare this to something like BLM, what you'll probably hear in response from the average person is evil riots destroyed property and not why those riots began in the first place. The spin machine would undoubtedly do its thing, probably turning this into some terrorist attack against US healthcare and how we shouldn't condone it as the best country in the world despite all evidence to the contrary. It's stupid, but the stupid out there will believe it, and the same stupids have the same voting power.

Wasn’t the plot of one of the Saw movies where they kidnapped that insurance guy and made him go through Jigsaw’s gauntlet of death? That one was pretty fun ngl
