Past few times I've been at walmart they've had more people hovering around self-checkout to prevent thefts instead of just, y'know, running actual registers. At least 3 on each end of the store. Toss in the greeters doubling as receipt checkers for extra inefficiency.

One of my favorite things in the world is to just say "no" and keep walking. Once you pay you own the items and they have no legal right to look through them. (Does not apply to Sam's Club or other membership warehouses where you agree to the check as part of the membership.)

I fucking LOVE walking past the line and just saying nope while people stare at you as they waste their free time on their corporate overlord check. If they aren't paying me then I'm not spending 1 millisecond waiting on them to check my items.
