Producer sure, but actors have no responsibility for props on set before picking them up and after putting them down. That's what Stage Managers, ASM, Production Assistants, Prop Masters, and other special roles on movie sets are for. Actors should be able to trust the props they're given.

Understand the argument but respectfully disagree they have no responsibility, theres still a degree of gun safety here that wasnt met, they weren't actually shooting a scene, he wasnt aiming at another actor, he had no reason to be pointing that weapon at the people he shot

The attorneys for Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who is being investigated by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s department in the wake of DP Halyna Hutchins’ death from a prop gun discharged by Alec Baldwin, told NBC’s Today this morning that they’re looking into whether a live bullet was placed in a box of dummy rounds with the intent of “sabotaging the set.”

“I believe that somebody who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove a point, want to say that they’re disgruntled, they’re unhappy,” Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney Jason Bowles told Today. “And we know that people had walked off the set the day before.”

That was my first thought when reading that as well. She's not helping her case, just making up new reasons why she is to blame.

Yeah they were live firing those weapons and there was lots of live ammo around.

From what I heard the Assistant producer or someone was the one who took the gun and declared it "cold" and handed it off, even though that wasn't his job. It's her job yes, but it was her 2nd gig so probably not enough nerve to try to overstep the AP doing that type of shit. Though also she got this gig 100% due to nepotism and on the last movie she was on had some incidents as well.

All around this entire thing was fucked.

Ahhh, yeah one comment mentioned that basically "it's not a crime to defend yourself while committing a felony" but also that the judge only cares about this case being a "Did he have the right to defend himself" and not about anything else.
