You could easily make a case for self defense with him, the problem being you can't start a gun fight and then claim self defense when they're trying to fight back.

Though to be fair that other guy got off for killing Trevon when he initiated the fight. I don't know how it is possible to start a fight then use a gun and claim self defense.

normally i would be on board with sympathy Day, a human being in pain evokes empathy in me as well even if their actions caused the pain, and taking a life can cause terrible pain in any human who is not a psychopath. but also that crying seems fake af to me idk i ain't ever seen someone cry that way

The guy he shot in the arm was supoosed to be the prosecutions star witness and boy did he ever fuckin blow it. Admitted that Kyle didnt point the gun at him until he drew his own weapon (which his CCL had expired for), and something about not mentioning he had a weapon in the civil case he has against the city. It was not a great day for the prosecution. A lot is going to hinge on the first guy he shot as others have mentioned.

side note annoyance, people keep mentioning crossing state lines like that means much really, when you live close to state border you do it all the time. most of the "protesters" arrested that night were out of state as well.

Crossing state lines with a weapon is a little different considering licenses and laws can/do fiffer between states.

The act of crossing a state line isn't the point, it's what he had with him while doing it and the intent behind why he had that weapon.

It depends on what the state's laws are. If what he brought is considered illegal for him to have possession of the second he crosses the border, even if it was legal in his previous state he was in, it would immediately become illegal.

Earlier I was unsure why the defense would let Rittenhouse on the stand. I think I understand now. They knew the prosecutor was such a fuck up they wanted to present him with an opportunity to dig a hole to a mistrial using Kyle as bait. It's working.

I did some brief reading and apparently he didnt actually cross state lines with a weapon. He previously had someone purchase the weapon in Wisconsin and they were "holding" it for him until he was 18 at which time they were going to do a private sale. So I believe he is charged with something like underage possession of a firearm, a misdemeanor I think.
