I don't wish for anyone to be dead, but I do understand that those in power never change things until tragedy hits them. A few of their kids talking like this changes everything. We remember all the Moms going crazy with MAD back in the day. They were never there until it was their little Timmy wrapped around a tree, and NOW its an epidemic and needs to be addressed.

Ours is a selfish species. Some of us are more selfless than others, but unfortunately, you have a lot of selfish people in positions of power. It's going to take THEIR kids dying for them to realize that the money and "owning the libs" isn't worth the loss of their own precious kin. This isn't an avocation for violence: this is a stark reminder of the reality of our species. We have countless examples from history to draw from, and if you aren't pulling from history, you're actively ignoring it.

Republicans believe masks and CRT is hurting our kids. They keep talking about Mental health like its something new, like humans are just now acting crazy.

People are protesting at the NRA convention and that's great, but there needs to be protests in every fucking city, like George Floyd levels of protest.

I don't watch any of that shit. I just read about it in the news. But if someone wants to watch it to stay informed, that makes sense to me.

Yep. Wife and I had considered Vancouver for quite a while and that just went into overdrive. There were storms bad enough that my daughter’s school closed at 12 today. My mother works with the mother of one of my daughter’s friends. Said mom got a call from the school before they called me, so my mom texted me “Hey schools getting out 12:15 due to scary weather.” There was a split second when I saw “school,” and “scary,” and my fucking heart nearly stopped because I’ve been so on edge about all of this shit.

I've seen the properties that you can buy in other countries with what we have to tolerate in the U.S. for home ownership. Very interesting.

I know there's numerous things to consider when relocating, but damn do other locations look pretty enticing with what they have to offer. Having to worry less about whether you or your child will be included in mass casualty gunfire seems like one good reason.

Honestly, if you're an actual position to pull off a move, I'd definitely suggest it. We're only gonna get worse before we get better, if ever.

My nieces have been home schooling since covid and I'm not really excited about the idea of them going back next year because I know how easy it is to get a gun around here if you really want one.
