Amend that to no one needs assault rifle and similar weapons, zero reasons and I'm on board.

I was just pondering since I'm not American myself (and I don't live in the US), but have a lot of American friends, and naturally, every now and then this subject of conversation comes up.
I'm not anti-gun (I'd even go as far as saying I'm pro-gun, although I don't own a gun myself), but it's crystal clear to me how there needs to be more strict gun control in the US, and youtube threw this my way, which I thought was very interesting:
I know better than suggest anything to get in between an American and their perception of freedom, but I guess "freedom ain't free"? Looks like Switzerland has it figured out.
People are being a little too narrowminded in their conception of "overthrowing a tyrannical government with civilian weapons".
If a radlib they/them militia parked a couple fertilizer truck bombs outside Thomas's and Kavanaugh's homes tonight they would likely preserve the right to abortion against a tyrannical government for decades (and Biden could even pardon the perpetrators assuming these crimes are committed in DC). If 8 months from now Kevin McCarthy is being sworn in as House speaker a couple crack-shot former Navy sniper buddies could overthrow the Biden/Harris tyrannical means-tested partial student loan debt relief regime in an afternoon.
Everyone has their own definition of tyranny is what I'm saying, and our bad constitution leaves America uniquely vulnerable to political violence that truly changes the faction in power.
Idk how people can claim guns are irrelevant relative to our military when a few hundred of our dumbest humans almost overthrew the government last year without even using the weapons they brought.
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
if i want a replica of a Croatian military rifle it's my god given right as an american

“Almost” is a bit of a stretch. But at the same time, they werent dealing with any resistance until they ran into secret service agents.
No need to use your weapons when the cops are opening doors and gates for you.
I would be more afraid of a police led rogue militia than I would be of a federal militia. Police don't seem to have anything really stopping them from doing a lot of damage if they really wanted to. Most mature minded military members have 0 desire to hurt their own people and would do everything to keep it that way. Shit is locked down so well on base that people wouldn't be able to steal weapons from a base or try to coordinate some type of strike without enough people knowing to put a stop to it before we even knew it happened.
National guard is full of a bunch of bored people but I still would give them the benefit of the doubt before the police.
whatever you do don't google "lasd gangs" (Los Angeles Sheriff's Department)
The military would be shut down in a heart beat.
The amount of checks and balances to even so much as draw ammo in garrison would see to that. AoE is a 100% correct that you have a ton more to fear from a rogue milita led by the police.
