So... is that going to be the fix for guns? Don't restrict, just start shooting at cemeteries now. Easy clean up?
The people that want a complete ban on guns is a tiny minority of people. Most people would mind a ban on certain guns, and alot more are in favor of gun regulations. Its the pro gun people that always claim that they(democrats, government, etc..)wanna take away all guns.
Regulations only work if the people enforcing said regulations do their job properly, unlike this guy:

Like it is not Constitutionally valid here, but really the problem is the burden of proof. It's much better to have a privilege system like the Japanese where you have to prove a need for firearms and that you will be responsible with them, versus the US entitlement system where the state has to demonstrate your unfitness to take them away.
I'd argue the JP system is closer to the "well regulated militia" aspect than we currently are.
shotguns and 22's? i dig it
doubtful as 'well regulated militia' in the context of the times probably meant that most people should be familiar and proficient with guns via training and personal use whereas in japan you can prolly count the people who have seen a gun on your hands
My perception of militia involves the application of military tactics and formations that most assuredly don't come with the current US model of, "Oh, you're 18? Cool." There's no real socially accepted training out there about what civilians should do today if armed defense of a town or property is required. It's either trust the cops or hope for the best one way or the other, really. The Rittenhouse murders is a shining example of how inadequate our own governance of the concept is and the assumption that some asshat with a gun can play hero for any reason the deem fit.
your perception doesnt really matter
House has passed a splat of gun control measure in an omnibus, raising the age of purchasing semi-automatic rifles to 21 (unless you're in the military or a government employee authorized to carry), outlaw high capacity magazines, outlaw bump stocks, applies existing federal law to ghost guns, establish regulations on storing guns at home, and a heavier penalty for gun trafficking.
all fairly mild stuff, and all doomed to failure in the Senate

Posted in the baseball thread, but belongs here as well. DeSantis vetoed some public funds for the Tampa Bay Rays for the sin of speaking out against gun violence.
