Bassitt has a fractured cheekbone and jawbone, will get surgery in a few days after swelling goes down. No damage to his vision or stuff like that.

Also related and funny. Cole Hamels is on the 60 day IL and done for the season. He is getting paid $1 million by the Dodgers for pitching a grand total of 0 innings and 0 pitches thrown.

Arrieta gave up 5 runs in 3.1 IP in a 7-5 loss, Padres are falling apart and could miss the playoffs if the Reds (and their exceedingly easy closing schedule) keep it up.

I'd be pissed if I was the best pitcher on the Padres AAA team and they were signing Arrieta instead of calling me up for a spot start in a playoff push.
