Ump has no choice with his tantrum. You don't throw at one, ever. Would have been wrong of him to have allowed it to go by setting a precedent of it being ok to be thrown at, no matter what it is.

The ump was late getting over there, Lynn has shit to do, he left his hat and glove on the railing, the ump called for his belt, he lobbed it up there as gingerly as he possibly could've, and got ejected. That's ego tripping to the maximum.

That was not a tantrum at all. Umpire completely fucked up as he's supposed to meet the pitcher at the 1st/3rd foul line. Not wait until he's in the dugout and down the hall to the trainer to get fixed up to pitch the next inning. That was by far one of, if not the softest, most ego driven ejection I've ever seen. In fact if you told me this exact scenario, and didn't even mention the umpire's name, I would have immediately responded "Was it Joe West or Angel Hernandez" that tossed him, cause those two are some of the biggest cry baby umps ever.

So you allow players to throw at an ump? No, lynn was out of line. It's irrelevant when the ump got there, he knew what was required of him to do. Throwing the belt was disrespect and the ump can't allow it to happen, otherwise it will cascade into worse.

Obviously nobody is a fan of the umps here, but you can’t be petty and casually chuck your belt at them because they missed you at the 1st/3rd base line.

Literally every pitcher in the league is going through the checks. Lynn is not special. The ejection was warranted.
