It's probably because Delta is massively more infectious while only equally or perhaps even less deadly.

If literally everyone gets infected with it then the virus is going to burn out extremely fast. COVID becoming an incredibly infectious but otherwise not serious illness is 100% the best possible outcome for humanity.

Uh lol the long term effects of infection are not good. Also its mutagenicity and potential to infect like a cold virus annually is not a good thing.

It's really hard to say, for all the vaccine resistance out there the olds have very high vax rates, so that makes COVID-19 hard to kill period.

Reminds me a couple months ago when fat fuck Ford shuttered up all of Ontario because "infection rates are out of control" when maybe 70-75% of new cases were in the Toronto region. Better shutter up Thunder Bay because Toronto's covid problem is out of control!

Last time they didn't do that, people of the GTA figured it was time to road trip and spread it out to all the neighbouring regions, because of course they would, since no one would ever obey a stay-at-home order a year into a pandemic surely.

Alberta just gave up and now don't require a quarantine if you test positive. They're also removing mandatory masks across the board in August aside from hospitals/care places, and not requiring it in the next school year. Alberta also happens to be trending back up again, which may result in a fourth wave. Oh boy.
