the school im teaching at this fall sent us an email like two weeks ago saying faculty/staff are required to wear masks indoors. it also said they are working on “scripts” for what to do with students who refuse to wear masks: they haven’t said they are mandating masks for students yet, but it’s obviously coming.

I feel like that’s where the “we have not received clear and enforceable safety guidelines” part of that email comes from: they need to know what to do with students who refuse to mask

edit: apparently i missed a follow-up email where students have already been told they need to mask up. says they’re putting signs up, stocking up on masks, etc

J&J announced that they don't have sufficient data to recommend a booster shot.

Iirc J&J used adenovirus-based infection so there is reason to believe your body would gain immunity to the carrier after the first shot and future shots would be cleaned up by your immune system before they could do much of anything.

I had always assumed this was why J&J went with a single shot instead of 2.
