NC lifted the mandate Friday. I went out and about with my daughter today and only saw maybe three people without one out of hundreds.

I think it's such a habit now that even when it's announced most people are going to have a hard time going without.

Went to Costco Saturday, there were about a dozen people without masks. Including a family of 5 with all their kids under 10. Sorry but my kid isn't vaccinated, I am. Still going to wear a mask indoors and while doing training indoors.

Does anyone have research on weather a vaccinated person, while not getting sick themselves, can still pass it to someone not vaccinated?

I think a few people were arguing that a couple pages back. Think the general consensus is that yes, you can still pass it off to someone if you contract it while vaccinated.

The CDC official guidance is that it's possible but extremely unlikely. They consider it to be a negligible risk. You'd be most likely to pass it on to somebody if you had a legitimate breakthrough infection - e.g, positive test, symptoms. The likelihood of you being out and about, vaccinated, but actually spreading the virus despite no indication - that's basically nil.

I think wearing one for your kid is probably the right idea though.

Sent to Walmart yesterday, I would say about 10% or less were without masks. I was really surprised honestly.

Went to Wal-Mart over the weekend and about 60/40 I think. Didn't pay much attention since my general rule of thumb for Wal-Mart is to get in and get out ASAP since I hate crowded stores.

I don't care at all, I'm glad California has the lowest 7-day per capita new case average of any state in the country. They already lifted it for outdoors for fully vaxxed people (unless in dense crowds), the rest is fine. I never expected them to flip out and reverse course on the already stated June 15th target date, they've been quite consistent with their application of "the rules" this entire time.

I'm slowly trying to ween myself off mask usage by not wearing it outdoors (but still staying abreast of folk on the sidewalks when possible). I believe we will adjust fine to no mask use just as quickly as we adjusted to mask-only use. I'd like to keep some medical masks around during the flu season, now. 15 months strong without a symptom feels *chef's kiss*

So I was reading that the CDC went ahead with the "masks off peeps" even though 95% of the scientific community was like "yo bro, we need masks for awhile still"? I have accepted walking outside without a mask when there's a few people out. Still do my best to distance.

Had dinner in West LA and 95% outside still masked up, me included. Just way too many people on Sawtelle during the dinner rush. The line at the udon place was a case of futility for social distancing. But I'm vaccinated so I'm not worried. And with nearly a 60% of LA county residents vaccinated with at least 1 dose - and 44% fully vaccinated - I think it's fine and safe when accounting for the low infection rates.

A recent survey of 723 epidemiologists found that 636 of them (88 percent) believe that it is still necessary to wear masks outside if you are in a large crowd, even if you're fully vaccinated.
