Thing is, their science might be fine. It might just be produced in plants regulated by the Chinese and not intended for rich markets. The FDA simultaneously sucks, doesn't regulate hard enough, and is doing god's fucking work when it comes to keeping us from injecting moldy asian trash into our bodies.

It's why the US can't use the Astra-Zeneca data from EU studies. You may think they suck but god damn they know how to dig into the shit any drug/medical device company does wrong and put them on blast.

Yeah, but they allow generic (and now brand) drugs to be manufactured overseas basically outside of their regulatory regime and it's only vague fear of being blacklisted by the FDA that keeps Indian/Chinese drug makers somewhat honest. They fear the border spot checks.

Smaller markets (like the Seychelles) have weaker regulatory infrastructure and it's less important if those companies get blacklisted there, so they're getting the batches that don't look right and wouldn't pass a spot check.

We had a guy get 1 dose of the Pfizer and get a pretty significant case after the first dose. Last I heard, he was maxed out on heated high flow oxygen. He still got a ways to deteriorate before intubation, but he's pretty damn sick.

Sounds about right. Unless someone dies, action is slow. All drug/medical device regulatory bodies give companies the chance to enact corrective action. The FDA issues public letters that would discredit companies that have poor Documentation and Manufacturing practices. That leaves it to the consumer to heed those warnings and choose alternatives if possible. Companies take a credibility hit if they are issued 483s or warning letters. But the FDA can't police everywhere all the time and rely on customer complaints and whistleblowers to step in beyond the usual inspection windows. Course could give the FDA more funding but ya know, small guberment.

Idk about 95% but there has definitely been pushback from a lot of the scientific community. This might actually be one issue where there's legitimate experts on both sides of the issue.

Scientific community looks split along the line of

"Here is the data, I don't care about anything other than the numbers and percentages, do as you will and leave me alone" vs. "Here is the data but we should consider how people will react and behave as a result"

The buck doesn't stop at the CDC telling people their opinion on transmission based on data. The buck stops at municipalities taking that data and deciding to enforce (or not) mandates based on it.

I don't think the CDC should have to take flak for choosing to report what they know. If a store, or a city, or even the feds themselves decide to drop the mandates because of it, then you should be criticizing (or celebrating) those people.

If they know vaccinated people don't need a mask and choose to just not tell anybody that then that's a disservice to their purpose as an organization.

We've come full circle. We started with complaining that the CDC was lying about mask efficacy in order to secure supplies for medical workers at the start of this, and now we're complaining about the unnecessary need for masks on vaccinated individuals because we don't want to give the unvaxed an excuse to go without one.

This is why y'all should stop worrying about everyone else and just prepare yourself for the coming Pandemic Over party.
