so i was at a July 4th party two weeks ago where there was a friend of a friend who is a nurse who was complaining how she has to wear a mask at work because she refuses to be vaccinated, while all the vaccinated staff doesn’t have to wear a mask

the host of the party is super trumpy and annoying (she will literally inject politics into any conversation just to try to brag about republicans or complain about pelosi/aoc, she is also not vaccinated) so there were a few other morons there. at one point i was talking to a woman who teaches high school and at one point the nurse and her sister were like ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT SCIENCE OR SOMETHING and i swear to god if i wasn’t trying to bang the teacher i would have either thrown a fit or left

I don't feel like enough of you really appreciate how little a selfish patient cares about their illness. Cognitive dissonance is powerful, and often patients will adopt the attitude "save me save me" and once you do they're like "go fuck yourself illness is fake lol fucking nerds".

These people don't give a shit. They don't want to die, and no amount of treatment will cure their ignorance.

Yeahhhh, and how far are we supposed to go to encourage them? I don't want to fight them forever, I only have so much energy to devout to strangers. God bless and good luck.

Pretty sure the hospital system my wife works for already established policy for staff wearing masks through 2022 and they are the same ones implementing mandatory vaccinations. It's a pretty major system in the state, Hackensack meridian.

We're supposed to wear masks while walking in the halls in the clinic or if I have a patient that actually comes to the office instead of telehealth. But if we're just in our office, don't have to wear it. And if another staff member comes to your office, they have to wear it in the hall, but can take it off in the office.

Hospital, staff is supposed to wear it at all times unless eating or drinking, vaccinated or unvaccinated. It's honestly kind of stupid. These employees are all in close contact in and out of the hospital without masks. The nurses don't often wear them at the stations. No damn doctors wear them in the physician lounge. I wish they'd lift it for staff except when doing patient care/interactions. But I get it, it'd be hard to lift it for vaccinated staff but require it for all visitors since we can't verify their vaccination status.

They put tags on our badges here to indicate vaccination status with our hospital and physician group. So we've scarlet lettered people into getting vaccinated.

Most nurses aren't complete idiots. There are some. And the ones that are anti-vax are usually very vocal about their idiocy and try to use their position as proof of being educated on whatever stupid position they're espousing. So they stand out. Idk what tf is going on in Alabama, but you have to understand that nurses are still only a fraction of the pie that makes up "healthcare workers". But most, even the republican/Trump supporting nurses, don't mix their politics with their work. The same with the providers I know. Although I also know some very liberal physicians that didn't get vaccinated in the beginning because they didn't have a full grasp of the mRNA vaccines and wanted to wait for more studies.
