I enjoyed the first set of episodes except for crossfire, was pretty bland imo. Pacman was weird but I enjoyed the twist; I'm not familiar with evil pacman lol. DnD and Armored Core were my favorite and I want more.

Squid Game, season 2 is out now. I'm 5 episodes in and it's been good so far. It's different enough to not feel like a repeat with new characters.

The most interesting arcs for me are what's going on with the girl shooter and seeing what happens with 001 since we know who he is. I'm curious if 456 (I can't remember their names) is suspicious about him considering 001 in the first season was involved in running the game. Also hoping preggo girl survives.

I'll binge the last 2 episodes later today.

Oh good, I was worried about S2 not going to be good because all the mystery of it is sort of gone and I felt the main char might be basically playing a new game plus. I'm about to start it too.

Took me until episode 5 or so to realize that 001's face seemed so familiar because he was the frontman. That connection had been entirely overwritten by him being a strangely Asian-looking Mads Mikkelsen in my mind.

Overall, games were exciting as hell to watch, but honestly, there's only so much "greedy people with herd mentality are goddamn stupid" I can take before I mentally check out. Goes double if I don't even see all the greedy ones die within the (half-)season. Wouldn't be surprised if they did not advertise this as a staggered release because Cobra Kai's final season ended up with people just waiting for the last part to be released before watching it in one go. Which I definitely would have done had I known this ends on a cliffhanger.

more info for them forlorn about Squid Game season 2 being too cliffhangery. as expected should only be 6-9 months until season 3, and as it felt writer did indeed basically split a complete season into 2 parts when it got too unwieldy. personally would've preferred a big ass season but ey modern audiences have no attention spans and complain incessantly about filler.

What I can say is, after Season 2 launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year.

I originally envisioned it as a single series, so both seasons two and three as a single series when I was writing it. But then, as I wrote the story along, it became to be too many episodes and too long of a story because you see Gi-hun's journey...

I'm with you on preferring a longer season. I would rather watch it all while it's fresh than having to wait months and try to remember things. I'm sure Netflix prefers it this way though since it's at least 2 months people will subscribe.

Longer seasons can usually depend on who you focus on; if it's a universally liked character, then audiences will probably appreciate being able to spend more time with them, but generally speaking, it's either that or a matter of quality. "Filler" doesn't have to be filler in the bad sense, but as long as it's not filler for the sake of filler, then I'm definitely on board with longer seasons as well.

That being said, if it's one or the other, then I'd really rather they release one episode per week without major breaks in between. That would be perfect, gives you something to look forward to every week.

Netflix is increasing subscription prices in the U.S. and other markets — including the first hike on its ad-supported plan.

The streamer revealed the price increases along with its Q4 2024 earnings results Tuesday, when it announced its biggest-ever quarterly increase in subscribers with a gain of 18.9 million for the period.

Under the new pricing in the U.S., Netflix’s Standard plan without ads will rise by $2.50 — going from $15.49 to $17.99 per month.

In addition, Netflix’s ad-supported tier will cost $7.99 per month, up $1 from $6.99. The price of the Premium tier, with four simultaneous streams, will be $24.99 per month, up $2. The cost of adding an Extra Member to a primary account is increasing from $7.99 to $8.99 per month.

Guess I need to binge some things on my watch list then drop my sub until shows I'm waiting on are released (Cobra Kai, Squid Games & Stranger Things mainly). All this increase does is remind me I don't watch it enough to justify keeping my sub active. Plus I have Hulu, Disney & Max from Black Friday deals.
