So Night Agent season 2 was legit great. Had its flaws but was a great watch.

They sent out the price increase email last night. Looks like the only difference between the $7.99 plan with ads and the $17.99 plan without ads is the ads. Everything else seems to be the same. Screens, quality, etc are all listed as being the same. I'll probably just change to the $7.99 plan just before my renewal date and see how that goes.

I'm on ad Disney and it's noticable during adult shows I seldom watch, but not insufferable. I don't watch those often though. The kids shows however are still ad free, which is what I care about. I feel like I came out ahead in that case.

Everything else is ad free tho, including YouTube, and I'll never go back.

If anyone is seeing ads, it's because they're being SUPER fucking lazy.
This is not setting up a pi hole, it's a 10 minute job getting firefox up and the addons one-click installed.

I know the built in/add on sticks are convenient/cheap.
But if you MUST watch on a big living room TV, you can build a bottom barrel HTPC for a couple-a-tchree hundred bucks that will stream fine and run firefox and be under YOUR control.

If you're watching on a phone, idk what to tell you. Watching video on those to me is like trying to suck a bowling ball through a straw.

PiHoles still don't get everything or do they now? I remember setting one up awhile back due to annoying Youtube ads and it wasn't actually getting all the stuff I wanted. I will probably go the route of setting up a htpc because holy shit it's getting stupid now with all these ads.

Or literally just watching it on the TV app. PiHole is not a sincere solution either, even though it'll work if you like fiddling with it every time something you actually do need gets blocked by it

I've used pihole and Adguard in a docker. It doesn't block everything. The issue with HTPCs is getting proper codecs to work if you are using anything other than tv speakers. If you have an OLED or any modern tv, you have to make sure you have Dolby vision support, which I don't think browsers support or are even capable of. So many of these codecs are licensed, not free, and are part of the purchase price of these steaming devices.

I have Amazon prime and still pirate anything I'm gonna watch on amazon to avoid ads. I have a whole setup with Unraid, Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett, etc. For TV shows, it's hands free. As soon as an episode drops online, my server goes to a few tracker sources and grabs the episode based on the criteria I set (4k, remux, HDR, SDR, DV, etc). For movies, I just type in the movie name and hit a button, I'll have it loaded in Plex in a couple minutes.

A solid NAS setup is so much better than paying for 5 different services or managing an HTPC, and probably around the same cost. Get a used dell power edge and some refurb HDDs off ebay. Can get a 20+TB RAID array up and running for probably $250-300.
