KPDH is indeed a great film but the music is just excellent and it really sells the rest of the movie.

Clearly not for me but Golden just sounds like your typical Tuesday pop/kpop song. In a month you can probably play it and tell me it’s some random ass track from the late 2000s and I’d believe you.

Whereas I’ll never forget the moment I first heard and watched the I Lied to You scene.

Oscars deserve to have the piss taken out of them but always thought it was kinda funny that among casual filmgoers they have this rep as hopelessly angsty artsy fare when a lot of foreign award peoples / hopelessly angsty artsy domestic filmgoers consider them hopelessly commercial and overly rewarding mainstream American trash. we ain't exactly talking about Cannes' Palme d'Or u feel me

they're just kind've hopelessly schizophrenic given how many voters there are and how most didn't even bother watching all the nominees before it became a requirement this year.

you got them hitting gold with lesser known but brilliant stuff like Anora and Parasite, giving big dubs to endlessly entertaining commercial fare like Gladiator and The Departed and Return of the King, then rewarding absolute fuckin hokum white guilt trash like Crash and Green Book, while also rocking baffling insider trading horse decisions with films no human being on earth actually remembers watching like Argo, Chicago, Shakespeare in Love

In a vacuum Argo wasn't awful.

But all the absolutely ridiculous historical inaccuracies in it solely so Hollywood could circle jerk itself off over how they were heroes squarely brought it into the trash tier.

Hey I liked Chicago. Pretty much the entire main cast is still active in acting, wouldn't mind seeing a 20 year old remake. Richard Gere probably won't be able to dance though.

I was once in an erotic storytelling contest with Alexandra Petri, formerly of the Washington Post, and her entry was a story about every version of Ben Affleck meeting in the Batcave, including a confused Mark Wahlberg, and it ended with "and then they all fucked, and it was ok, like Argo."

WELL one season down and Reservation Dogs made me cry. p heartbreaking the whole California dream was from a throwaway comment their suicidal abused friend made mid-manic episode. + who knew Bill Burr had that kind of acting in him, accent was even p good except when he was yelling and it collapsed into Bostonian lmao.

gotta say i love the modern trend of throwing tragedy into comedies a la this, The Bear, Fleabag, and throwing comedy into tragedies a la The Sopranos, The Wire, Succession.

also:: nearly died when those fuckin dumbasses started singing Tom Petty as their curse-breaking song. + spirit guide remains undefeated.

Alice in Borderland season 3 is out now. Wasn't much fanfare ahead of the release so I've been finding a lot of people didn't know about it. Only 3 eps in. It's not blowing me away but I'm not hating it either.

Friend and I binged Wayward last night on Netflix.

Pretty solid, though the ending was a bit of a let down. Good representation though of how cults can impact people via gaslighting.

Sony is finding success with their Spider-Man knockoffs via streaming on Netflix.

    Top 5 Streaming titles;

    Madame Web
    Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
    The Garfield Movie
    It Ends With Us
    Kraven the Hunter

Exact metrics aren't given, but Sony asked Netflix to provide them with the data of the number who started and who finished their films.
