I haven't seen Luce but the Cloverfield Paradox does not fill me with hope D:
This is gonna suck =/ and I already don't like Mackie
might end up like the ghostbusters reboot where it's just a crappy movie but no one learns anyone because they blame the poor reception on people being intolerant etc
My hope is that they base it off of Sam's Serpent Society arc in the comics, that was a good and interesting story.
Mackie has been just fine as Falcon imo. Bucky should have gotten the shield, though. It fits his story so much better than giving it to that one dude cap met jogging a few years back. And yeah, I think Stan could probably carry a solo Cap film better than Mackie could.
I just can't forgive him for altered carbon season 2..lol
Not when he was nothing like Kovacs. I dont think thats entirely the scripts fault. I think he is very overated but thats just me. He has no charisma at all for a lead role. Unless there is a movie where he was outstanding in please let me know so I can go watch, so I can change my mind.
I think he's just fine, potential devil's advocate take is the overton window of a level of charisma is probably over-adjusted due to the fact many actors play their roles with maybe too much charisma, so we think of that as the baseline and are judging accordingly.
Many have said that Kristen Stewart just judging her from Twilight is an atrocious actor, but then she did other works and we find out she isn't actually bad at all.
The difference here is that he is taking over for one of those characters with too much charisma and he will obviously be judged for it.
Imagine taking over the Captain America mantle, the character that's meant to be the de facto leader, brimming with charisma and authority, that was played by Chris fucking Evans, who made that role his own over the past 10 years, and by all intents and purposes lives the Captain America ethos onscreen and off, and you're standing there with goggles straight out of SSX Tricky and all of the charisma of a wet loaf of bread.
No hate on Anthony, but this is going to bomb. Plus, Marvel fatigue is setting in for a lot of folks, which further compounds the issue.
Unpopular opinion, but while I think Chris Evans was basically Captain America personified, I don't think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Captain America was all that charismatic. The charisma has all come from Thor and Tony Stark. He doesn't crack all the jokes, he doesn't rattle off the witty one-liners, he doesn't even really do much of the leading. He gets his "Avengers, assemble" line once a movie, but beyond that he's just been a task driven one man army every movie.
I'm not convinced Mackie is going to be great, but I'm also not convinced a lack of charisma will be the reason he isn't.
