Neowiz and Round8 Studio announced Lies of P, a brand new Souls-like Action RPG inspired by the classic Italian novel from Carlo Collodi. Built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series S/X systems, Lies of P tells the story of Pinocchio like you’ve never seen it before. As Pinocchio himself, you must navigate through a dark Belle Epoque world where all of humanity is lost. The once beautiful city of Krat has become a living hell, and you must find the famed Mr. Geppetto to unravel the mystery of what happened to both yourself and the world around you.

“We’ve been toying with the idea of retelling Pinocchio’s tale in our own way for some time. Lies of P is the culmination of our dreams and our nightmares. It’s definitely a version of this classic story that you’ve never seen before,” said Jiwon Choi, the director of development for Lies of P. “To us, Pinocchio has always been a grimly dark tale of the lies we tell to get by in a world that’s not always black and white. We can’t wait to show you more of the game in the coming months.”

As the puppet mechanoid Pinocchio, you will wind your way through the streets of a ruined city, crafting weapons from the materials you find in the world, and interacting with the remaining few who manage to survive in this pre-industrial hellscape. The more you lie, the more human you become, with all the advantages and disadvantages that it entails. A richly detailed crafting system, profound narrative choices, and deeply customizable character progression round out the RPG features in Lies of P.

Like... they aren’t even pretending they didn’t rip 100% of this off of FromSoftware, even down to the trailer narrator, yet still failed spectacularly in making even an interesting trailer.

Got to the last boss of Overture last night. I've got a feeling I will be bashing my head against him for the next couple of days, lol. Phase 2 feels impossible right now

Edit: Nvm, didn't notice there's an ally NPC you're supposed to get up to help you, lol. Took 2 tries with that

what an absolute son of a bitch, and i refuse to use the npc summon. went to bed angry last night and will try again tonight

but yes, his phase two is complete insanity, there are like zero good windows to punish him. his opening attack is him just being an asshole for like 30 seconds!

edit: also, the only save file i had in this game was in ng+3, so that’s probably not helping me either

overall though even without being done yet, great dlc. cool costumes, cool weapons (been using the claws a lot), cool story that plays into the main game, fun bosses, has it all

Wish you could migrate microsoft gamepass pc saves into steam. I'd buy the game and DLC as I enjoyed and beat the base game, despite not being able to beat Elden Ring (though I blame that more on my neck injury making my whole right side numb and burning, so I couldn't attempt more then a few times before I'd have to quit)

if you’re worried about having to beat the base game again, they included easier difficulties in the dlc. you can drop the difficulty down to story/easy mode to rush through the base game, then go to the dlc after (and then up the difficulty if you want, you can adjust the difficulty midgame)

Wasn't going to bother bumping a 1 page thread for a game that released two years ago, but meh. Free on PS+

4 boss souls in, decently fun. Cathedral had some vibes. I thought there would be more of a story but it seems like Geppetto is just the "go here" guy. But unlike wheelchair lady he doesn't want me to lie so I assume he is the bad guy later.

Currently Booster Glaive handle + whatever and rocket R2ing everything.
