you can, but they're honestly worse then Pals in every concievable way lol

OK i gave it another shot because I was super cranky earlier (I took mushrooms last night with my BIL for the first time in like 10 years and didnt get enough sleep last night).
I also found out the zoom is bugged on ulta-wide monitors but there's a fix for it if you add a line of code to the .INI settings. Still not as zoomed out as I'd like, but much better.
Having a bit more fun now that I'm fully awake and the zoom is semi-fixed.
The building is still janky though and I saw some other posts on reddit complaining about the same thing (the roof in particular has a hard time snapping to the walls).
tbf, even much more well regarded build games have issues with roofs.
Yeah I've never played a survival game where I don't need a mod to fix the building system.
Far as survival games go this might be my new #1. Despite ARK's jank and bullshit developers it was my favorite because of the dino taming. Pals are basically ARK's dinosaurs except better in every possible way w/ a plethora of PvE content to fuck with. The Pal progression system tickles my gacha gland too.
Won't last forever but none of these ever do for me since I don't care for the PvP in these games. I'll prolly end up getting 60+ hours out of it which for 30 bucks is great.
Having an absolute blast with this despite the fresh trauma of world corruption problems in LEGO Fortnite. I guess the tech tree is kinda funky since I'm seeing streamers placing assembly lines on top of log cabins as if they didn't have more building options.
You unlock stone and metal structures before assembly lines. They just didn't bother upgrading
got all the current achievements, so only missing 21 of the current pals, looks like we can’t get to the tree yet, Jetragon is also fast as fuck when you can build the harness for him at level 50
I'm on my moral fence with this one with the open statement of using generative AI to create all models that were clearly trained on pokemon art given the mosh up of 2 or 3 characteristics of a pokemon slapped onto a humanoid model or straight up lifting assets and placing them on a cat. Its gonna be harder in the future to have any morals around generative AI as the future progresses as the world seems hellbent on using it and not caring what the output looks like.
I mean, Hogwart's was pretty much the litmus test for gamers not giving a fuck as long as they could be entertained. For some, the grief is an added bonus.
Personally, I believe AI has its place and will be an important aspect of development in the future, but current iterations are likely tainted and the rush to replace workers is gonna have a ripple effect on a bunch of industries. Basically another one of those lessons on why you shouldn't prioritize for-profit over the betterment of humanity. Probably something to be said of the discontent Pokemon fans have for Nintendo and their handling of the franchise, too.
I mean AI stuff aside so much of the environments look like they came straight out of an asset store.

Meh..., Pokemon did it first, and AI really isn't different.
Spoiler: show
Besides, it still requires human cleanup and 3d modeling, and for just 10 people or so working on it, you're gonna get those off-the-shelf assets. If not, this game wouldn't exist. Also, I don't get the moral equivalency here to some of the things mentioned, like slavery; it's an insult to what slavery really is in the real world. Guess any sport/work activity a dog can do is also slavery then.
Beat the level 10 boss, then discovered an Level 13 dungeon on the shore behind the starting point. Seems they reset every-so often, and I picked up a couple of purple chests and a copper key chest. Metric ton of ore and pal nodes, and the pal nodes are as big as the outside ore (note the stone ones) so it's a good place to grab a ton if you have the carry capacity. Various rare pals I haven't seen anywhere else that I grabbed too.
The boss was just a large version of the low level elephant-like creatures and boy-oh-boy is the AI really bad for the NPC Thugs in there. They get stuck on basic stuff and if they can't re-set or get off of it so it's really easy for the pals to take them out. Even the boss will stay focused to you for a long enough distance to hide behind the entrance wall and let pals whale on them. I also had my first raid but it was a bunch of level 5 thugs and they all blew up almost instantly from my level 12+ base pals.
I was in the process of scouting locations for a new base when I got my first raid so I had to fight them all solo lol. at level 9 with basic gear, they stood no chance
Honestly Pokemon kinda deserves it for the absolute garbage they've been putting out.
They've been getting away (thriving) while putting in the absolute minimum effort on every game they've released since Gameboy times.
I do understand the predicament and what it can mean for future titles of other games/art though.
