Yup fuck that shit, I was surprised Disney+ didn't have ads for Daredevil but guess it's because they know people would be up in arms about it so they just slap ads everywhere else on other stuff.

Honestly I wouldn't even mind watching 3mins of ads at the beginning of a show just to not have the show get interrupted at key moments to tell me about meds for my aging mother or skin conditions...what is even worse is it's the SAME FUCKING ADS EVERY TIME. At least with cable it might be switched up a little bit but holy fucking shit. I don't want to watch the same bad Progressive commercial for the 10th time in this 1hr documentary.

Get a VPN and put it on your router, have the VPN set to Albania and only point to your TV and tada, no more ads. Assuming you have a router that lets you do routing based policies. I'm presently using a unifi setup at my home.

While unskippable bullshit upon load is a real problem with dvds of a certain age range, I’ll admit I’ve come to enjoy the random time capsule effect of popping in a dvd from like 2008 and seeing the most random shit that I didn’t know I forgot about.

I know I could download everything ever onto a dedicated server for free, but I feel strongly about physical media. Plus, it makes yard sales much more interesting, people have the most random shit on dvd and give it away for free!

Yeah that is nice! Those codes are usually long-used before I get my hands on the physical copy, though.

The convenience of digital is part of my problem with it, though. Back when we had all the streaming services, my daughter would just flip between shows or movies constantly, never finishing anything. Now that we’ve cancelled them all and she has to physically get up and switch the discs every time she wants to watch something different, her habits have done a complete 180. She’s now a lot more likely to be invested in what she watches and finishes what she starts. Her attention span has improved. She can answer questions about what she watched rather than just staring off blankly saying ‘ummmm…’.

It’s just further proof to me that our tech-obsessed modern life is brain poison.
