My friends just had our 14th (15th but we skipped last year) one, we've always called it Apache Street Thanksgiving since we started doing them on Apache Street.

I was in charge of the turkey this year, my first time ever making one.

We don't fuck around with assignments anymore. People are usually in charge of the same thing year in year out. There was a year where one of our friend's wife made a fucking eggplant lasagna when they were in charge of the main protein. Needless to say there was a lot of pissed off people.
We have set dishes more or less but the person in charge of the turkey tends to drift depending on who has the time/desire.
As one of the only friends left without kids, it fell to me.

I'd still have no kids and enjoy that. If it means I had to make the turkey, I'd do it every time.
I did a sous vide turkey last year, best non deep fried i've ever had. Crazy juicy.
It sucked getting up at 4am to change the water temp and do stuff to it but it was worth.
I was going to spatchcock this year but I'm not eating meat so everyone can suffer.
ya Friendsgiving was all over the internet and ads a decade+ ago nothing to do with wokeness. it's literally just having Thanksgiving with your pals instead of family.
my friendsgiving last year

We've been doing Friendsgivmas to roll both holiday parties together since a lot of people take time off or vacation around now. Usually a white elephant gift giving and big dinner. Also lots of booze and games. It's great.
I celebrate Qalentine's day by eating candy and going and fucking myself.
