I know all too well why, beyond the parasocial attachment kids form watching the same guy for multiple years. These streamers/social media personalities, drive in the heads of their young impressionable audience that "Cancel Culture" is out for all of them and will just say stuff and dog piling just perfectly innocent people cause Twitter Left is bad! It creates a little culture-sphere where their fans assume any bad press about their boys is just "The cancel culture" left coming to silence the real freedom loving free speech bros, and that brainwashing is really hard to break.

My brother, god love him, watches TimTheTatman a lot and as such is familiar with both Nick Merc and DrD, though he watches neither as they're "too much" for him. But even that third party attachment and rhetoric had him coping for any excuse and grasping at every single "Yah but like, what if.." scenario to show Doc is just a perfectly innocent boy and the hate mob/cancel mob on twitter is dogpiling him because they don't like him. But not to shit on my brother, we talked about it for a while, and its clear he definitely believed Doc wasn't innocent but that was so hard for him to accept that he just kept going back to "I think people should wait for more evidence before attacking someone", which fair, but I could tell that was just a defeated logic.

Because, sadly, I can tell he's fallen really deep into that "Culture war" online group I got caught up in all the way back in gamergate, and he doesn't even realize it. I'm sure any of you in poopdeck at the time recall that about me, but I recognize that past self in him right now, the same arguments and stances, the same "Middle road, both side, what-about-isms", all founded on the typical right-wing gamer topics of DEI, woke games, and so on, these topics which make you feel like you share an enemy and ease you into even harsher and more hateful rhetoric, ala the boiling a lobster theory. He's fully submerged, and I don't know how to help him see other than challenging him and presenting the other side when we talk.

To his credit he listens and often thanks for me being someone he can talk too about this stuff, since he says "Twitter is all or nothing" and having been there I know that kind of hate pushes him further to the right. I guess thats what i'll keep doing.

It was probably coming here and getting facts shoved up my ass constantly that caused me to start question what I was being fed from that culture-war sphere I had been involved in tbh, wish he had something like that.

Sneako's argument was so absurd dishonest. Basically saying that since Moist supports children starting process of sex change at the age of 14 (which often takes years to finish), granted that they have the support of their family, he must also agree with children getting married or having sex with an adult at the age of 14.
