Are the EMMI's just Mother Brain clones?
That brain looking thing Samus gets some powers from is awfully suspicious.

How on earth did I miss this. I've been dying for a new 2d samus ever since super metroid. Was not really a fan of the controls on the prime series.
Early reviews are out and they are very positive. Their common complaint is that certain bosses can get very frustrating, and there are too many, at times almost back to back.
To get myself prepared for Dread I played the SNES version, Super Metroid and gave up at quicksand stages as jump puzzles started getting rather frustrating and annoying. Overall it was a very good game though, such design features were quite common and understandable back then to extend the gameplay.
Looks like Walmart is shipping orders out. Just got an alert from FedEx that it's on the way and will arrive the 8th.
Walmart currently has the Special Edition in stock. I was able to order a copy, not sure how long it will be available.

Wait, 200$? I thought it was 90.
It is. I'm taking a guess that's from a 3rd party seller/scalper jacking up the price.
Amazon Treasure Trove has them now too, but I dont know how long and it seems like delivery only as opposed to those pop up trucks. For retail of $90.
If mine wasnt en route already I would nab it.
I just wish I could get the amiibo set
Went to my local Target and they didn't get any. Checked Wario64 on Twitter and missed a GameStop drop by 45 mins, then grabbed it thru an Amazon drop he posted not long after. He's definitely the guy to turn notifications on for on release days. I could've gotten the special edition thru another drop he posted earlier in the day, but I was more interested in the amiibo.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind.
Anyway, got the Diffusion/Varia Suit upgrades not too long ago. Got to say this game is pretty fun. Though the stationary aim can feel a bit annoying, especially when the camera is at an angle during the charged Omega Beam sequence.
I'm prolly a little ahead of you. Got the morph ball bomb and just running around killing shit. Been playing for like 8 hours plus. Metroid is my jam and this one feels a lot more fun than Samus Returns. The EMMI are pretty annoying, but it's a chef's kiss moment if you can counter and deflect their attack when they catch you.
Spoiler: show

The EMMI parts are straight up bad design. Instant death stealth sequences have always been a poor choice in games, let alone nowadays.
Yeah, but it's pure dumb luck to time it out correctly.
Doesn't change the fact that it's incredibly jarring from going around exploring to then suddenly hitting a part where you're forced to reload 10-20 times in a few minutes because of poorly implemented stealth gameplay.
