WWE books Sami vs Roman for the title as main event. Sami comes out 15 minutes before end of show. There is a lot of stalling and behind the scenes shit. Then Sami starts talking and then Brock comes out, gives Sami 3 German's a 2 F5's. Its now a 15 second squash to close the show.
We know Sami wasnt gonna win, but do something more than that.

I was hoping he would win it as a transitional champion since I can't see them having Roman lose clean. Would have been fun to have Sami stay champion due to Roman and Brock constantly interfering in the other's attempts to get the belt.

So I saw that making the rounds right around the time Wargames started is that both Gargano and KOR have been offered multi year deals from WWE, but the expectation is neither of them will sign it.

I wonder if all the recent cuts have made more of the roster realize that multi year contracts from WWE don't mean shit and is gonna start affecting their ability to re-sign some people.

Pretty much that. You are only as good as your word, and when you are cutting people for budget reasons, some of them months after signing a new contract, those multiple years don't mean much.

Word is out that Jeff Hardy got sent home. Yesterday during a live event teaming with Drew and Xavier, after making a hot tag to Drew, he went into the crowd, and never came back to even celebrate after his team won. Supposedly was also sluggish in the ring by the end.

I could be off base here, thinking about sports contracts, but if someone is signed for 3 years to be paid 800k / year or whatever, even if WWE fires them after 2 years, arent they still owed 800k, or some percentage of the unpaid amount if terminated early? What good is a contract if WWE can just say "yeah, we dont want to pay you anymore, bye"? Why cant the wrestlers do the same: "We dont want to work here anymore, keep the money, bye"?

The big difference between all the sports leagues and wrestling is that all those leagues have players unions, and thanks to Hulk Hogan wrestlers do not. MMA has similar issues, tho most MMA companies sign based on X number of fights and not yearly deals so not exactly the same thing.

And yeah that's exactly the issue we're seeing more and more in this last year. WWE is signing people to supposed multi-year deals and they're basing their financial future off that paycheck (to say nothing of international people who might be relying on that job to stay in the US) and then WWE just fucks them over with no warning.

I still wonder how they can be legally called "Independent Contractors", since the IRS defines that as
"You are not an independent contractor if you perform services that can be controlled by an employer (what will be done and how it will be done). This applies even if you are given freedom of action. What matters is that the employer has the legal right to control the details of how the services are performed."

That definition is an exact description of a WWE performer. Vince and Co. control everything. While they give the wrestlers some say in how it gets done, the fact is, Vince runs the show. If he was a certain person to win, it happens. Even when someone doesn't want it to go that way, it still happens, (i.e. Montreal Screwjob)

I've often wondered, are WWE referees considered employees? I've met some indy refs and they either do refereeing as a fun weekend thing or, if it's their real job, are bouncing back and forth between feds just like the indy wrestlers every night. But WWE refs are there for every show directing several matches a night, seems like they would be actual employees.
