Yeah as I recall TNA wasn't even a touring company at that point. He could work once a week and not have to be on the road 250+ days a year.

Damn, i really thought Gargano would stick with WWE as a trainer and a one-off wrestler here and there in NXT. Maybe i guess the deal of a lifetime with wwe as a trainer wasn’t enough, or he knew he could get let go at any moment.

Besides the memes I realized the reason they made a pretty big deal out of HOOK's debut is because he's the first 100% homegrown talent AEW has.

While I'm sure being his father's son is a big factor, it is a good sign for the future to show that AEW can take a guy with no in ring experience and turn him into a quite competent wrestler in about 2 years.
