I read that the vaccine wasn't targeting the most dominant/current (flu) strain...
https://www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...es-us-rcna9434The omicron variant has overtaken delta as the dominant coronavirus variant in the United States: As of Friday, more than 73 percent of new cases in the country were caused by omicron, according to data the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted Monday.
Edit: Beaten but, yes.
I also feel like I should add this:
In certain areas of the country, the omicron variant accounts for more than 90 percent of new cases, including New York and New Jersey, as well as parts of the Midwest, the South and the Pacific Northwest.
Took the family to a Christmas train thing at the park. 100% outdoors, and at least half the people were masking outside. Haven't seen that since like April 2020.
Just to expand on what Kuro said, production of the flu vaccine has to start before flu season to be effective. So, they use various data points and information from other countries that may be going through their flu seasons, to develope what they believe may be the more prevalent strains.
I don't always work very well.
Seems I was potentially exposed when I went to see Spider-Man. Maryland's governor just popped hot as well.

I wore a mask the entire time at least.
Maybe they're just using it for the cold? I've found it's nice to have when it's particularly chilly/windy out
Im talking n95/surgical masks.
Fiancee and I hiked a trail this last weekend where people would pull their masks out of their pockets and quicky put them on as we passed by ... that's insanity.
i dunno about anyone else but i'm pretty sure i'm not gonna go judging people who make an effort to protect random strangers that walk by them
you gotta be a real cunt to feel any kind of way about people making small efforts to protect their health and the health of those around them
Isnt being outdoors supposed to be safe due to particle dispersement from the wind or something? Wouldnt constantly touching the mask actually pose a greater risk contaminating the mask and thus infection?
there's no evidence putting a mask on when passing strangers in close proximity poses a greater contamination risk than leaving it off. in either case the risk should be extremely low as the time spent near them is miniscule and the particulate dispersion you refer to ensures that unless they are actively coughing on you very few if any particles are floating into and onto you. personally when out hiking and passing folk i simply turn my head away from them so any conceivable particulates are shooting off elsewhere.
reckon what everyone took objection to was the cuntishness and feelings of superiority stemming from seeing other people perform a minor safeguard that doesn't impact you in any way.
