Since you say turning away unvaxed is wrong, limiting capacity to unvaxed is wrong, implementing triage and denying unvaxed when at capacity is wrong, whats your solution? And remember, "please get your shots, were in a pandemic of the unvaccinated, 90% of all ICU cases are unvaccinated patients, so please get your shots" has been tried multiple times and has not worked multiple times. Man I really missed my chance to respond to the "just build more wings" response that got lost in this cluster fuck.

Oh well. Anyway we can't just build more wings anyway with today's building standards for healthcare facilities in a reasonable time. Maybe emergency triage stuff like they did at the McCormick Center in Chicago - which thankfully didn't have to be used because people actually started wearing masks and socially distancing here. Big city still has almost 20% ICU vacancies even with the thousandss of gunshot victims from just this past week.

That's why I had to add a little extra to my statement. But the triage thing in Chicago was put up really fast, but it was an existing building and just needed equipment and partitions to be installed. Realistically this can be done in a lot of suburban areas like mall courts and arenas. Nobody wants to sacrifice their cowboy and monster truck shows for some emergency ICU space, though.

Besides "build more wings" I believe some are neglecting the lack of staffing affecting some regions during surges. So sure you may have more floor space; but when you have the lack of staff to provide the suggested workload for optimal outcomes, shit is going to break.
