What even are Vegas' options right now? Trading a player to a team, resulting in that player being unable to play for the rest of the year? Putting a pretty sizable and talented contract on waivers in the hope that some team with the cap space will pick them up?

They have to either trade away contracts or waive people. They are currently cap compliant but not roster compliant because they're carrying too many guys. As soon as any of their LTIR players are healthy they have to be activated, and then they will have to trade or waive more players to be cap compliant.

Every game where their roster isn't legal (either roster size or cap non-compliance), they forfeit. There are also fines in the CBA associated with non-compliance of up to 5M.
