3 is good. Gets a little too much hate for some of the later segments. Has a really nice post game.

4 gets shit on. A lot. The MC kind of sucks. Faize also sucks. I played in japanese so I didn't have to deal with Lymle's english nonsense. Gameplay was fun. Story was okay. Really liked a lot of the areas. The post game fucking sucks.

I didn't play it when it first came out, but I think I agree that Till the End of Time is not nearly as good as people remember it being. 4's gameplay wasn't too bad, and without Edge it could've even had a salvageable narrative, even considering Limle. Integrity and Faithlessness was just a mess front to back.

5 might have been short but all the back tracking it had made it feel sooo drawn out at times from what I remember. Like, it's the only thing I remember vividly about the game - how much I hated having to run around what was overall a pretty small world

Not optimistic about this at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love Star Ocean and I'm happy they're trying again, and I hope they put more effort into this than the low budget mess that was 5. But I have absolutely zero faith in Square these days.

I'm still mixed on Arise. It honestly hasn't clicked for me, and I have not enjoyed it as much as previous titles, but the surge in popularity has me feeling really cautious about the future of the series. On one hand, at least it has a future (not that Tales was doing bad prior), but on the other, is it worth it if it ends up tossing all of its niche charm for broad mainstream appeal? *shrug* I mention this because this trailer is giving me similar vibes.

Cautiously optimistic, SO5 was nothing and I'm pretty sure after my save died I just stopped playing and never returned. SO4 was fun but Lymel is death, and emo Edge was painful. I doubt they'll ever be as good as 2 or 3 again, but I'll give it a shot.

The gameplay is usually fun, so it's mostly the other parts that worry me.

I just beat 3 not long ago and as Ayn said, it took me awhile to get into it but once you've got a hold of the combat it becomes quite fun and easy to break with the crafting enhancements. I will say though that I only did 1 of the post-game dungeons and didn't have any interest in playing more after that.

I played it and struggled to find Lymle anywhere near as annoying as she was made out to be.

I just thought her VA was kind of overly robotic when engaging with other characters.

The JRPG community owes itself to buy all Tri-Ace games until we either get Valkyrie Profile Remake or Valkyrie Profile 3.
