But can Bryce Harper survive without the first paycheck?!
But can Bryce Harper survive without the first paycheck?!
he might have to sell max scherzer a porsche
I get so tired of this in baseball. Even if players "only" made a million dollars a season (and let's say that's after taxes) they would still have very comfortable lives and party hard.

It's more than just that though. Owners are making hundreds of millions off of the back of the players. So of course they want their cut of the pie. Owners mindset has always been about not having most of the money, they want all of the money they can get, and players have been pushing back. Saying things like that just plays right into the owners sympathy playbook. "Look at those evil, greedy players, causing games to be cancelled cause they want the minimum pay to start at 775,000 instead of 650,000 and wanting free agency in 5 years instead of 6.

fucking gold.
The babip gods have spoken.
Banning the shift is fucking stupid
I agree it is, but people for the most part pay to see offense, and not ground balls up the middle becoming an easy out.

It's kinda stupid to ban it. But even more stupid is the shift changing on 2 strikes eating up time making the pitch clock irrelevant
even if they institute a rule where there have to be 2 infielders on each side of second base, what’s to prevent one guy from being just left of second base before the pitch, and then moving to the other side just after. you can still have the second baseman in shallow right too in this scenario
whatever
(and yeah I think it’s dumb to ban it too, always been a stodgy old man “learn to bunt” advocate)
One of the latest stumbling blocks.

Sounds like April 7th is the new opening day.
Also sounds like the retarded Manfred pandemic rules are gone too!
So less then a month of Mike Trouts left
